Original job description
About AMZ Prep
AMZ Prep is an Amazon-first 3PL and commerce enablement company. We combine fulfillment, freight and logistics with technology that helps brands grow across Amazon, retail and their own online stores.
We started as a fulfillment company, and we are becoming an AI and software-first one. We are building the technology behind that shift, from the systems our teams use on the warehouse floor to the tools our customers use to run their businesses.
Our Values
Our team operates on a few simple principles. If you do not align with these, we would recommend you do not apply.
Win Relentlessly. We work hard and stay resilient when things get tough. We move fast, adapt when reality does not match the plan, and push to raise the bar every day.
Own the Outcome. We are responsible for results, not for having tried. We do not wait for someone else to solve the problem. When something breaks for a customer, we step in, fix it, and make sure it does not happen twice.
Be Humbly Confident. We are confident in our work and grounded in how we treat people. We communicate directly, avoid politics and ego, and call out problems early instead of managing around them.
Obsess Over Data. Numbers decide. We measure before and after, we quantify the value we deliver to every customer, and we let the metrics tell us when something is not working.
About the Job
We are hiring three product managers to build AMZ Prep's technology. This is a founding product role for an experienced, technical product manager who wants to own a meaningful part of the platform, work shoulder to shoulder with engineers and operators, and turn messy logistics problems into software people actually use.
You will own a product area end to end. That means setting the strategy and roadmap, going deep on the architecture and data with engineering, and staying accountable for adoption and results after launch. You will work directly with leadership, customers and warehouse teams, with no layers between you and the problem.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You bring the judgment of a senior or principal product manager into a small, fast-moving team. We care more about what you have built and the results than the title on your resume.
Depending on your strengths, your product area could be warehouse and fulfillment systems; shipping, freight and carrier performance; or customer-facing software, integrations and billing. You will own one defined area rather than trying to run all three.
What You'll Do
Own discovery, strategy, roadmap and delivery for your product area, from the first customer conversation through launch, adoption and iteration.
Define the product vision and a multi-quarter roadmap tied to revenue, margin and customer retention, and be clear about what we will not build.
Work in a tight product trio with engineering and design from the start. Join architecture discussions and technical design reviews, and make trade-offs on scope, build versus buy, and technical debt.
Write clear requirements, user stories, API and integration specifications and acceptance criteria that engineers can build against without guessing.
Design systems that connect warehouse management, order management, transportation and billing, including carrier integrations, marketplace and ecommerce platform integrations, EDI and webhooks, and the data flowing between them.
Use SQL, product analytics and customer feedback to set a baseline, prioritize, forecast and measure whether the product worked. Own your KPIs and OKRs.
Find practical uses for AI, machine learning and automation. Test accuracy, handle exceptions and keep people in control where mistakes affect inventory, money or customer promises.
Spend time with the people doing the work, including on the warehouse floor, to see where the current process breaks and what operators actually need.
Own testing, rollout, documentation and adoption with operations and customer-facing teams. A release is not finished because it was deployed.
Report business outcomes such as time saved, cost per order, billing accuracy, SLA performance and customer adoption, including what did not improve.
What You'll Need
3 to 5+ years of product management experience owning software products from discovery through launch and iteration. More experience is welcome. We care about the depth of what you have shipped.
A track record of taking a product from zero to one, or scaling an existing platform, with clear examples of the results you drove.
Strong technical depth. You understand modern software architecture, APIs, integrations, data models and data pipelines, and you can hold your own in technical trade-off discussions with engineering leads.
Working SQL and analytical skill to investigate a problem and prove the outcome yourself, using product analytics and business intelligence tools.
Experience with agile delivery, and the ability to operate without a fully formed roadmap or a large support team. You have made hard prioritization calls yourself.
Strong product writing, and the ability to explain the same problem clearly to an engineer, an operator and a customer.
Good judgment about speed, quality and operational risk. You can ship a small first version without ignoring the failures that would hurt customers.
Familiarity with applying AI, machine learning or automation to real operational problems.
A willingness to spend time with the people doing the work, including on the warehouse floor.
Bonus Points
Experience in ecommerce, fulfillment, logistics, B2B SaaS or marketplaces.
Hands-on experience with WMS, OMS, TMS, carrier integrations, inventory systems or billing platforms.
A background as a software engineer, data analyst or data scientist.
Building a product from zero to one at a small company, or replacing a manual workflow with software that people adopted.
Hands-on experience testing AI products or using AI tools to prototype and accelerate product work.
What Success Looks Like in Your First 90 Days
You understand the customers, workflows, systems and economics of your product area, with a clear baseline for the problem you are solving.
You have aligned engineering and operations on a short, prioritized roadmap and shipped a useful first improvement into real use.
You can show evidence of adoption and impact, explain what you learned and make a clear call on what comes next.
Why AMZ Prep
Real ownership. Help shape the product function while building systems that matter to the business.
Direct access. Work with leadership, engineers, customers and operators rather than waiting for requirements to filter through layers.
Work you can see. Your decisions affect how inventory moves, how teams work and how customers run their brands.
