Position Summary

Analyticsmart is looking for a hands-on leader to oversee our Business Intelligence and Category Management teams. You will lead analysts and data engineers, manage key client relationships, and contribute directly to important projects.

This role suits someone who enjoys developing people and setting direction while remaining close to the work. You should be comfortable moving between a client strategy discussion, a data delivery issue, and a category insight presentation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the team

Manage, coach, and develop BI analysts, category analysts, and data engineers.

Set priorities, assign work, review deliverables, and keep projects on schedule.

Build consistent standards for analysis, data quality, reporting, and client presentations.

Help hire and onboard team members as the department grows.

Deliver client work

Lead BI and category management engagements from discovery through delivery.

Work directly on complex analyses, dashboards, data projects, and category recommendations when your expertise is needed.

Translate retailer and CPG data into clear, practical actions for clients.

Oversee data pipelines and reporting solutions, working with the team to resolve technical or data quality issues.

Ensure recommendations are commercially useful and presentations are ready for senior client audiences.

Own client relationships

Serve as a senior point of contact for assigned clients.

Understand each client’s goals, manage expectations, and communicate progress and risks clearly.

Present insights and recommendations to client leadership.

Identify opportunities to expand existing engagements based on client needs and the value our team can deliver.

What you bring

Significant experience in business intelligence, retail analytics, category management, or a closely related field.

Experience leading analysts and technical team members while remaining hands-on with delivery.

Strong knowledge of CPG and retail data, category performance, assortment, space planning, or merchandising.

Experience building or overseeing dashboards and reporting solutions in Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.

Enough technical depth to guide data engineers on data integration, modelling, and quality, even if you are not writing every pipeline yourself.

Strong project management skills and the ability to balance several clients and deadlines.

Confidence presenting findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

A practical, accountable leadership style: you can make decisions, remove obstacles, and help the team produce excellent work.

•Experience supporting both retailers and CPG brands.

Required Qualifications

8–12+ years of progressive experience in business intelligence, category management, merchandising analytics, or a related field

3–5+ years in a leadership role managing analysts, category managers, or BI teams

Proven experience in retail, CPG, e-commerce, or wholesale/distribution (industry-specific depending on the company)

Track record of leading category strategy that drove measurable revenue, margin, or market share growth

Experience partnering with senior/executive leadership and presenting to C-suite or the board
