About the Role:
The Shift Manager leads production and operational activities within a high-volume automotive assembly environment. This role is responsible for achieving safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives while developing team members, resolving operational issues, and driving continuous improvement.
Salary Range: $60,000–$100,00 annually
Actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, skills, location, and other job-related factors.
What You Will Do:
- Lead daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members to build capability, accountability, and engagement.
- Monitor production schedules and effectively allocate people and resources to meet customer requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving broadcast and sequencing systems, including line escalations and production disruptions.
- Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Materials, and Logistics to resolve issues and improve operational performance.
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Support the implementation of engineering and process changes, ensuring effective communication and execution on the production floor.
- Maintain accurate workstation documentation, including Standardized Work Sheets (SWS), Process Verification Sheets (PVS), error-proofing documentation, and Autonomous Maintenance standards.
- Maintain and utilize the Versatility Matrix to identify skill gaps and support team member development.
- Conduct Training Within Industry (TWI) activities to establish standardized work and improve training effectiveness.
- Implement and sustain 5S practices and ensure compliance with plant standards.
- Conduct routine process verifications, workstation audits, and follow-up activities to maintain quality, safety, and process compliance.
- Support PFMEA activities by identifying process risks and implementing appropriate controls and corrective actions.
- Assist with the creation, tracking, validation, and closure of open issues through structured follow-up and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, environmental standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, accountability, and respect.
What You Need to Be Successful:
- 3+ years of leadership experience in a Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing environment.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing, assembly, sequencing, or a similar high-volume production environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement principles.
- Working knowledge of Process Control Plans (PCPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), rework processes, and PFMEA.
- Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve operational issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage employees and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to establish accountability, drive performance, and maintain a positive team environment.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new processes, technologies, and manufacturing systems.
- Action-oriented approach with a commitment to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
