SHIFT MANAGER

About the Role:

The Shift Manager leads production and operational activities within a high-volume automotive assembly environment. This role is responsible for achieving safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives while developing team members, resolving operational issues, and driving continuous improvement.

Salary Range: $60,000–$100,00 annually
Actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, skills, location, and other job-related factors.

What You Will Do:

Lead daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
Lead, coach, and develop team members to build capability, accountability, and engagement.
Monitor production schedules and effectively allocate people and resources to meet customer requirements.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving broadcast and sequencing systems, including line escalations and production disruptions.
Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Materials, and Logistics to resolve issues and improve operational performance.
Drive continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
Support the implementation of engineering and process changes, ensuring effective communication and execution on the production floor.
Maintain accurate workstation documentation, including Standardized Work Sheets (SWS), Process Verification Sheets (PVS), error-proofing documentation, and Autonomous Maintenance standards.
Maintain and utilize the Versatility Matrix to identify skill gaps and support team member development.
Conduct Training Within Industry (TWI) activities to establish standardized work and improve training effectiveness.
Implement and sustain 5S practices and ensure compliance with plant standards.
Conduct routine process verifications, workstation audits, and follow-up activities to maintain quality, safety, and process compliance.
Support PFMEA activities by identifying process risks and implementing appropriate controls and corrective actions.
Assist with the creation, tracking, validation, and closure of open issues through structured follow-up and accountability.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, environmental standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Promote a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, accountability, and respect.

What You Need to Be Successful:

3+ years of leadership experience in a Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing environment.
Experience in automotive manufacturing, assembly, sequencing, or a similar high-volume production environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement principles.
Working knowledge of Process Control Plans (PCPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), rework processes, and PFMEA.
Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve operational issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage employees and cross-functional teams.
Ability to establish accountability, drive performance, and maintain a positive team environment.
Ability to quickly learn and apply new processes, technologies, and manufacturing systems.
Action-oriented approach with a commitment to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
