Job Description:

AI Enablement Specialist/Engineer

Location: Toronto ON - 3 days a week onsite required

12 month contract

The Equity AI team drives effective AI adoption across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) within Equity Technology, and explores high-impact use cases - through rapid proof-of-concepts (PoCs) - for applying AI to Equity line-of-business (LOB) problems.

We're looking for a proactive, full-stack engineer who can move fast from idea to working prototype, embed AI responsibly into engineering workflows, and help shape how AI delivers value across the group.

What you'll do:

  • Build and ship PoCs that apply AI to real Equity LOB use cases.
  • Champion AI-assisted engineering practices across the SDLC.
  • Partner with technology and business teams to identify, validate, and scale high-value opportunities.

What you'll bring – essential skills and experience needed:

  • Python expertise - deep knowledge of the language and its common frameworks.
  • Modern deployment - solid grasp of deployment patterns, including containerization.
  • Data - working knowledge of relational databases.
  • Web development - working knowledge of modern front-end development (React preferred).
  • Agentic coding - strong understanding of agentic coding practices and how to apply them responsibly.
  • SDLC fluency - experience of the full software development lifecycle.
  • Enterprise architecture - awareness of the needs of enterprise applications: scalability, security, traceability, and instrumentation.
  • Generative AI - understanding of emerging GenAI patterns (RAG, agents, embeddings, evaluations) and AI governance / risk awareness (hallucination mitigation, model risk, data privacy, and staying inside financial-services regulatory guardrails). Prompt and context engineering awareness.

A curious, self-directed builder who takes initiative, thrives in ambiguity, and balances speed with responsible, production-minded engineering.
