Job#: 3054954
Job Description:
Senior Full Stack Developer, Java / Angular / AWS
Client: Top 5 Canadian Bank
Location: Downtown Toronto, Hybrid Model 2 days week in- office
Role Overview
We are seeking a
Senior Full Stack Developer to join a growing engineering team delivering greenfield enterprise applications. This is a hands-on development role for someone who is equally comfortable working across front-end and backend technologies, with an expected emphasis of approximately
60% backend / 40% frontend.
This is
not an architecture or advisory role. We are looking for a strong builder who can take an ambiguous problem, determine an effective technical approach, and develop the solution with limited hand-holding.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deliver full-stack enterprise applications.
- Build backend applications and services primarily using Java.
- Develop modern web interfaces using Angular.
- Build and consume REST APIs.
- Develop and deploy solutions within AWS environments.
- Contribute to new applications being built from the ground up.
- Understand and address application considerations including authentication, security, and performance.
- Troubleshoot unfamiliar technical problems and independently determine solutions.
- Collaborate with developers, technical leads, and project stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
- Participate in technical design discussions while remaining highly hands-on with development.
- Adapt across multiple initiatives as project priorities evolve.
Required Qualifications
- 5-6+ years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated senior-level capability valued over years alone.
- Strong, hands-on Java development experience.
- Strong, hands-on Angular development experience.
- Demonstrated experience as a genuine full-stack developer, rather than primarily front-end or backend.
- Experience developing and integrating REST APIs.
- Experience working within AWS/cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of core programming and language fundamentals.
- Ability to independently analyze and solve unfamiliar technical problems.
- Experience building new applications or features from the ground up.
- Understanding of application authentication, performance, and security considerations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Python and/or FastAPI development experience.
- Experience with recent Angular versions.
- Greenfield application development experience.
- Experience working on large-scale enterprise applications.
- Mortgage, lending, banking, or financial services experience is beneficial but not required.
Technology Environment
- Backend: Java, Python / FastAPI
- Frontend: Angular
- Cloud: AWS
- Integration: REST APIs
- Development: Primarily greenfield and new-build initiatives
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a
hands-on full-stack engineer who leans slightly toward backend development but remains genuinely strong with Angular. They have excellent Java fundamentals, understand modern front-end development, are comfortable working in AWS environments, and can independently solve problems without needing detailed instructions or a predefined technical blueprint.
They should be able to explain
what they built, why they designed it that way, the challenges they encountered, and how they solved them.
What This Role Is NOT
- Not an Angular-only/front-end role.
- Not a pure Java/backend role.
- Not a Solution Architect position.
- Not looking for someone who primarily designs solutions for others to build.
- Not dependent on previous banking experience.
