About The Opportunity
The Software Engineer L5 / Lead, Software Engineering will help architect and deliver enterprise-scale software solutions supporting McKesson’s healthcare technology ecosystem. This role will provide technical direction, guide architecture decisions, and support modernization, platform stability, security, compliance, and scalability across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end development for multiple projects or platforms and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.
- Lead and coordinate engineering teams in solution delivery, providing technical direction and decision-making support.
- Define and reinforce architecture standards, coding guidelines, and engineering best practices across teams.
- Guide system architecture, design reviews, and technical decisions for complex enterprise solutions.
- Lead upgrade, migration, and modernization planning while minimizing business disruption.
- Drive adoption of Agile and DevOps methodologies, including automation and CI/CD practices.
- Support vendor relationships for critical application integrations and help ensure compliance and interoperability.
- Recommend future-state solutions for legacy system modernization and technology debt management.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Expert proficiency in software architecture and enterprise-scale solution design.
- Advanced knowledge of microservices design and modular architecture principles.
- Strong expertise in API orchestration and integration strategies for complex systems.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and DevOps practices.
- Experience with release management processes and environment promotion strategies.
- Advanced knowledge of software integration patterns and interoperability across platforms.
- Strong command of Agile tools and ability to drive Agile adoption across engineering teams.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills to influence technical direction and guide engineering teams.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Healthcare, pharmacy, or regulated industry experience.
- Experience supporting legacy modernization or platform migration initiatives.
- Experience managing or supporting vendor integrations for enterprise applications.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience in software development, including enterprise-scale architecture and technical leadership.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and SDLC governance.
- Experience supporting software solutions in regulated environments.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant Agile, DevOps, cloud, architecture, or software engineering certifications are an asset.
