Our client is seeking a driven, entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to help grow its commercial waste services business across Manitoba.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of developing a business line, identifying new opportunities, and building lasting customer relationships with the support of an established organization behind you.
The role will initially focus on developing new commercial customer relationships and expanding service opportunities, with the potential to grow into additional service areas as the business continues to develop.
This opportunity is best suited to someone who enjoys the challenge of developing new business, understands the commercial services marketplace, and is comfortable creating opportunities from the ground up. While there is an existing network of customer contacts and market relationships to build upon, the successful candidate will take the lead in turning those connections and new prospects into sustainable business.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and grow the market: Identify, pursue, and secure new commercial and institutional customers for a range of waste and related services throughout Manitoba.
- Drive new business development: Proactively prospect potential customers through cold calling, in-person visits, networking, referrals, and other targeted outreach strategies.
- Develop a strong sales pipeline: Research prospective accounts, identify key decision-makers, and maintain consistent sales activity to generate new opportunities and achieve growth targets.
- Re-establish customer relationships: Reconnect with existing and historical contacts to identify opportunities to develop new business and expand the organization's presence in the market.
- Understand customer needs: Take a consultative approach to sales by learning about customers' operational requirements and recommending appropriate service solutions.
- Navigate contract cycles: Understand existing service agreements, including renewal dates, automatic extensions, and potential penalties associated with early termination, to identify the right timing and approach for new business opportunities.
- Build long-term partnerships: Develop and maintain relationships with customers, decision-makers, and key stakeholders to support customer retention and future growth.
- Manage the sales process: Track prospect activity, customer intelligence, follow-ups, and opportunities in the organization's CRM system, maintaining accurate records and a well-organized pipeline.
- Support customer success: Respond to customer questions and concerns, identify opportunities to improve service, and work collaboratively with internal teams to support a positive customer experience.
- Contribute to future growth: Identify market trends, competitive activity, and opportunities to expand service offerings as the organization's presence in Manitoba develops.
What You Bring
