About AppDirect

Become a digital, global citizen and enable the new generation of digital entrepreneurs around the world. AppDirect offers a subscription commerce platform to sell any product, through any channel, on any device as a service. We power millions of subscriptions worldwide for organizations. We do this by our values-driven culture, one that enables you to Be Seen, Be Yourself, and Do Your Best Work.

About Firstbase, an AppDirect subsidiary

Firstbase helps companies equip their teams with everything they need to do great work - from computers and furniture to company swag and perks. We give businesses the ability to instantly support employees with the right physical goods, and give employees the flexibility to choose what works for their unique needs. Firstbase is part of AppDirect, a subscription commerce platform that powers millions of subscriptions worldwide for organizations selling any product, through any channel, on any device - as a service.

About You

You are a Software Developer with at least 2 years of professional development experience, ready to join AppDirect’s Firstbase engineering team. Whether you hold a degree in Computer Science (or a related field) or bring equivalent hands-on experience, you thrive on solving real-world operational challenges.

In this role, you will help build and expand Firstbase’s platform, which provisions, tracks, and manages employee IT equipment from onboarding through return and end-of-life. You’ll write software used daily by our warehouse, procurement, and customer operations teams, as well as external customers.

You’ll fit right in if you embody Humility, Intensity, and a Positive Mental Attitude - someone who brings a fresh perspective, shares new ideas, and is excited to tackle new challenges while mastering new technologies.

What you'll do and how you'll make an impact

Implement and maintain features across Firstbase's product catalog, orders, fulfillment, and customer-facing applications
Build and extend REST and GraphQL APIs using Java (Spring) with guidance from senior engineers on design and approach
Work with PostgreSQL and messaging systems (Kafka, SQS/SNS) as part of the platform stack
Contribute technical designs for assigned features and stories, and explain trade-offs to teammates
Own the quality lifecycle for the work you deliver: write tests at the right layer (unit, integration, and end-to-end), participate in code review, shepherd changes through delivery, and follow through on issues after release. Quality is a shared responsibility across product, engineering, and quality engineering
Partner closely with Firstbase operations (warehouse, procurement, and fulfillment), first-class stakeholders in what we build. Translate their workflows and constraints into software that works in production
Participate in team delivery practices and give and receive feedback actively
AI-assisted development: use coding agents for bounded tasks with review. You stay responsible for understanding the change, test coverage, and merge quality
