Original job description

The Pricing Analyst will be responsible for analyzing transportation costs, market rates, customer requirements, and profitability to develop accurate and competitive pricing solutions.

This role will work closely with Sales, Operations, Carrier Management, Finance, and Customer Service to ensure pricing is commercially competitive while maintaining appropriate margins.

The ideal candidate has experience in transportation, freight forwarding, logistics, customs brokerage, or supply chain, with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of freight pricing and transportation costs.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and prepare customer-specific pricing and freight quotations based on shipment requirements, lanes, volumes, service levels, and transportation modes.
Analyze carrier rates, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, tariffs, and other transportation costs.
Review and maintain customer and carrier rate sheets and pricing databases.
Analyze historical shipment data to identify pricing trends, cost drivers, and margin opportunities.
Partner with Sales to develop competitive pricing proposals and respond to RFPs, RFQs, and customer pricing requests.
Evaluate proposed rates to ensure they meet established margin and profitability targets.
Conduct market and competitor rate analysis to ensure pricing remains competitive.
Work with Operations and Carrier Management to validate transportation costs and available capacity.
Identify opportunities to improve gross margin through pricing adjustments, carrier negotiations, and improved lane management.
Monitor customer profitability and investigate significant variances between quoted and actual costs.
Prepare pricing reports, dashboards, and analysis for management.
Support annual and periodic customer rate reviews and contract negotiations.
Assist with pricing strategy for new customers, new lanes, and new service offerings.
Maintain accurate pricing information within the company's TMS, ERP, CRM, or pricing systems.
Ensure pricing requests are completed accurately and within required turnaround times.
Assist with special pricing projects, cost analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
Provide analytical support to Sales and Operations when evaluating new business opportunities.

Qualifications

2–5 years of experience in pricing, rate analysis, transportation, logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain.
Strong understanding of transportation costs and freight pricing.
Experience working with carrier rates, customer rate sheets, and freight quotations.
Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to analyze large amounts of data and identify trends and discrepancies.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Sales, Operations, Finance, and customers.
Ability to manage multiple pricing requests and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
