Role : MSSQL Database Administrator – L3 (Azure & On-Premises)
Location : Montreal ,QC
Experience: 8+ Years
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced MSSQL Database Administrator with strong L3 expertise in SQL Server and Azure database environments to manage, optimize, secure, and support enterprise databases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer SQL Server across on-premises, Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and Azure VMs.
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting.
- Manage Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Handle database migrations, upgrades, patching, and cloud modernization.
- Optimize T-SQL, stored procedures, execution plans, and database workloads.
- Implement database security, access controls, encryption, and compliance.
- Automate database administration using PowerShell, T-SQL, and Azure CLI.
- Handle P1/P2 production incidents, root cause analysis, and resolution.
- Maintain database documentation, monitoring, and operational procedures.
Essential Skills:
- 8–14 years of MSSQL Database Administration experience.
- Strong expertise in SQL Server and Azure SQL Database.
- Azure SQL Managed Instance and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
- Performance tuning, Query Store, execution plans, indexing, and T-SQL.
- Always On, HA/DR, replication, clustering, backup, and recovery.
- Database migration, upgrades, and patching.
- PowerShell, T-SQL, and Azure CLI automation.
- L3 production support and incident management.
Good to Have:
- Azure SQL Automatic Tuning, Database Advisor, and Elastic Pools.
- Azure Geo-Replication and cost optimization.
- Microsoft Entra ID, Managed Identities, and database security.
- Infrastructure as Code and compliance management.
- Team mentoring and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities
Administer and optimize SQL Server databases across on-premises and Azure environments, including performance tuning, migrations, security, backups, and high availability. Provide L3 production support, resolve critical incidents, automate administration, and maintain operational documentation and procedures.
Requirements
Requires 8–14 years of MSSQL database administration experience and strong expertise in SQL Server, Azure SQL services, performance tuning, and T-SQL. Candidates should also have experience with high availability and disaster recovery, database migrations and maintenance, automation, and L3 incident management.
