Original job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Architect to lead the design, optimization, governance, and evolution of enterprise database platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server architecture, database design, performance tuning, data modeling, and cloud-based data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and maintain enterprise database architectures and logical/physical data models.
Optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, indexing, and database performance.
Design scalable OLTP and data warehouse solutions.
Lead ETL/ELT architecture, data integration, and database migration initiatives.
Establish database security, governance, backup, recovery, and compliance standards.
Design high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
Conduct architecture reviews, troubleshoot critical database issues, and perform root-cause analysis.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to DBAs, developers, data engineers, and BI teams.
Collaborate with business stakeholders and enterprise architects to deliver scalable data solutions.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in database development, administration, or data architecture.
5+ years of experience in database architecture or technical leadership.
Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
Strong experience with enterprise-scale OLTP and data warehouse solutions.
Expertise in SQL performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and database internals.
Experience with Kimball, Data Vault, or dimensional data modeling.
Strong understanding of database security, governance, and compliance.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, or Databricks.
Experience leading cloud migration initiatives.
Knowledge of Data Lakehouse and Data Mesh architectures.
Exposure to AI/ML and advanced analytics platforms.
Microsoft Azure Data Engineer or Database Administrator certifications.
Experience working in Agile environments.
