Original job description

Partnering with a leading global financial services organization, Aquent is seeking a talented and experienced design professional to shape modern digital experiences that impact millions of users daily. In this dynamic role, you will have the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between complex workflows, data visualization, and polished visual execution, directly influencing how customers interact with essential digital products in an iterative, agile environment.

The Opportunity and Your Impact

We are looking for a collaborative champion of user-centered design who can act as an interaction design subject-matter expert while bringing high aesthetic standards to life. Working closely with product managers, researchers, engineers, and executive stakeholders, you will drive digital solutions from early discovery through to delivery. Your work will not only simplify complex data sets but also elevate the overall visual craft, ensuring that every digital touchpoint is intuitive, accessible, and beautifully executed.

What You Will Do

Act as the interaction design subject-matter expert across cross-functional product teams.
Translate complex data sets and multifaceted workflows into intuitive user interface patterns and visualizations that drive task performance and user comprehension.
Lead ideation workshops, collaborative design sprints, and design critique sessions.
Evaluate interaction systems for accessibility, inclusivity, and technical feasibility, providing clear design rationale to leadership and technical partners.
Combine interaction principles, visual design theory, and research insights to deliver end-to-end design solutions.
Produce everything from low-fidelity wireframes and user flows to high-fidelity UI specifications, responsive layouts, and interactive micro-interactions.
Build advanced prototypes to validate complex interactions and supply comprehensive delivery specifications to engineering teams.
Maintain consistency by contributing to and auditing design system components, patterns, and interaction standards.
Partner with UX researchers - and lead targeted evaluative research - to ground design decisions in verifiable user feedback.
Plan and facilitate usability tests, synthesize findings, and iterate rapidly based on observed user behaviors.
Conduct competitive audits and UX benchmarking to identify market trends and opportunities for innovation.

What You Bring (Required Qualifications)

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional digital product design experience creating intuitive, responsive interfaces across web, mobile, and multi-channel platforms.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Visual Communications, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design case studies, showing information architecture, wireframing, interaction models, prototyping, and refined visual craft for complex applications.
Design & Prototyping Craft: Advanced proficiency in industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma) and remote collaboration platforms (e.g., Mural, Miro).
Research Literacy: Direct experience participating in or conducting usability testing (e.g., via UserTesting.com) and translating qualitative and quantitative research data into actionable product designs.
Communication: Proven ability to articulate design strategy, present complex concepts clearly to senior stakeholders, and advocate for design decisions using sound rationale.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Master’s degree or relevant advanced certification in HCI, Design, or a related discipline.
Experience navigating large, regulated enterprise environments (such as financial services, fintech, healthcare, or enterprise SaaS).
Strong grasp of design thinking frameworks and modern agile delivery methodologies.
Deep knowledge of web and mobile accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA).

What We Offer

Scale & Impact: Design products and features utilized by millions of users daily, solving complex real-world problems.
Design-Forward Culture: Work within a collaborative, inclusive environment that places UX, research, and technical innovation at the center of product strategy.
Professional Growth: Continuous learning opportunities alongside a multidisciplinary team of product designers, design system engineers, and UX researchers.
