Original job description
Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.
We are more than 34,000 people, in over 30 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.
Role description:
Arcadis is looking for a Construction Site Coordinator to provide on-site leadership, day-to-day supervision, and logistical coordination for assigned work packages. The role supports quality and regulatory compliance through inspections, documentation, contractor oversight, and coordination of changes, testing, and commissioning activities.
Role accountabilities:
In this role, you will review technical submissions, field changes, and shop drawings; verify materials, workmanship, and installations; and perform compliance inspections to confirm alignment with design specifications and contract requirements. You will oversee implementation of the Quality Management Plan(s), ensure conformance with contractor documentation, escalate non-compliance to the Owner, initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and witness testing, inspections, and commissioning activities.
You will also coordinate change order requests with the Construction Compliance and Design Teams and maintain construction-site records, including inspection reports, RFI logs, and deficiency lists. This includes monitoring contractor adherence to technical standards, regulatory approvals, Owner specifications, project designs, IFC drawings, and specifications, as well as contributing to substantial performance and total completion correspondence once the required certifications and approvals are in place.
As part of your responsibilities, you will monitor daily field operations, subcontractors, trade labour, and project schedules across multiple construction sites as directed or required. You will identify field constructability issues early, escalate them to the appropriate authority, and support corrective actions to help prevent rework, schedule slippage, and additional costs, while collaborating with municipal partners.
Additionally, you will coordinate field activities to minimize community disruption related to noise, vibration, and dust; organize site access points, construction laydown areas, and equipment staging within dense urban corridors; and support temporary road closures, traffic management plans, and lane staging with municipal transportation departments. You will also help ensure adherence to municipal property by-laws, building permits, and environmental protection requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of on-site supervisory experience in heavy civil infrastructure, rapid transit, underground utilities, or tunneling projects
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline is highly preferred
- Preferred architecture, civil or structure background
- Certifications: Gold Seal Certification (GSC) is an asset
- Thorough knowledge of the OHSA and local construction regulations
- Familiarity with alternative project delivery models is a strong asset
- Strong blueprint and schematic reading proficiency (structural, civil, and utilities plans)
- Clear, universal communication skills to manage diverse field crews and interface with municipal agency representatives
- Strong analytical skills to handle complex utility conflicts or structural variables safely on-site
- Valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel frequently across multiple active station sites along the Yonge Street corridor
