Original job description

Job Overview

Join the proactive Chip Methodology & Automation (CMA) team within Arm's Solutions Engineering organization! As a CAD-DFT Engineer, you will develop and apply scalable strategies, sequences, and automation to optimize Arm-based SoC implementation. This role gives you the chance to work across IP, architecture, and product engineering areas. You will contribute to producing production-ready solutions that improve quality, efficiency, and time to market.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain DFT methodologies, flows, automation, and reference solutions for Arm-based SoCs.
Drive alignment and integration of DFT flows within end-to-end RTL-to-GDS and silicon enablement methodologies.
Collaborate with architecture, implementation, CAD, product engineering, customers, and ecosystem partners to ensure successful deployment.
Evaluate and enable new capabilities with EDA vendors and technology partners.
Lead technical reviews, resolve complex integration challenges, and drive methodology improvements.
Guide engineers and contribute to the DFT and automation roadmap within CMA.

Necessary Skills and Experience:

Minimum 3+ years of industry experience in DFT implementation, methodology development, and flow integration for complex SoCs.
Deep understanding of scan, compression, ATPG, MBIST/LBIST, JTAG/IEEE 1149.x, IEEE 1687, and hierarchical DFT methodologies.
Experience integrating DFT into implementation, verification, and signoff flows.
Hands-on expertise with industry-standard DFT EDA tools.
Strong automation and scripting skills (Python, Tcl, Shell, or similar).
Excellent debugging, communication, and collaborator management skills.
Proven ability to influence technical direction across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills and Background:

Experience with advanced-node SoC development.
Familiarity with chiplet or multi-die architectures.
Experience developing CAD, methodology, or automation infrastructure.

In Return:

At Arm, we believe in promoting an inclusive and united environment where every team member can thrive. You will be given the opportunity to join a group of highly skilled engineers working on groundbreaking technology. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a culture that values work-life balance. Join us and contribute to the future of computing!

Additional Information

Please note that no relocation package is available for this role.

Salary Range: $99,900-$135,100 per year

We value people as individuals and our dedication is to reward people competitively and equitably for the work they do and the skills and experience they bring to Arm. Salary is only one component of Arm's offering. The total reward package will be shared with candidates during the recruitment and selection process.

Use of AI in Your Application

At Arm, we embrace the benefits AI can bring, including in recruitment. You may use AI to support your preparation, such as improving the clarity of written responses, practicing interview questions, or learning more about our industry. However, your application and interview responses must reflect your own thinking, experience, and abilities. We want to understand your authentic perspective, creativity, and approach to problem solving. As such, you may not use AI to complete assigned tasks as part of any assessments. Please email us about anything we can do to accommodate you during the recruitment process.

Hybrid Working

Arm’s approach to hybrid working is designed to create a working environment that supports both high performance and personal wellbeing. We believe in bringing people together face to face to enable us to work at pace, whilst recognizing the value of flexibility. Within that framework, we empower groups/teams to determine their own hybrid working patterns, depending on the work and the team’s needs. Details of what this means for each role will be shared upon application. In some cases, the flexibility we can offer is limited by local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations, and where this is the case, we will collaborate with you to find the best solution. Please talk to us to find out more about what this could look like for you.

Equal Opportunities

Arm is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal opportunities are available to all applicants and colleagues. We are a diverse organization of dedicated and innovative individuals, and don’t discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
