Primary Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret blueprints and drawings with no supervision.
• Perform maintenance to buildings and equipment as required.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment as assigned.
• Must be able to operate all machine shop equipment efficiently.
• Must complete, record, document, and maintain all associated records pertaining to the job function.
• Requires working to close tolerance.
• Trouble shoot and repair in an effective and timely manner.
• Must be able to work independently or in a team environment.
• Instruct and assist helpers performing related job functions.
• Maintain an organized and safe working area.
• Abide by the Occupational Health & Safety Act; Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
• All duties to be performed to company standards, both proficiently and efficiently with little or no supervision.
Educational Requirements:
- Requires Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certificate
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Must have working knowledge and be self sufficient in performing duties requiring welding, fitting, layout, gear (boxes) hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, electrical, cranes / rigging.
- Requires the ability to follow verbal or written instructions.
- Maintain knowledge and skills level at or above industry standards, through continuallyupdating knowledge of changing technology, as related to the job function.
- Must have a valid, unrestricted drivers license.
Equipment/ Tools/ Technology Used:
- Hand Tools, Power Tools, Alignment Tools, Lifting and Rigging Equipment, DiagnosticTools
- Maintenance Management Software
- Safety Equipment: PPE, helmets, gloves, safety glasses hearing protection
Physical Demands:
- Heavy Lifting: Millwrights often need to lift and maneuver heavy machinery parts and tools. This can include lifting items weighing 50 pounds or more and sometimes using hoists or cranes for particularly heavy components.
- Physical Stamina: The job requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, and movingaround. Millwrights may spend long hours on their feet, which requires good physical endurance.
- Manual Dexterity: Precision in handling tools and equipment is crucial. Millwrights need good hand-eye coordination and the ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively.
- Climbing and Crawling: They frequently work in awkward or elevated positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, or navigating cramped spaces. This can involve working at heights or in confined areas.
- Bending and Stooping: Many tasks involve bending, stooping, or kneeling to access or work on machinery parts.
- Repetitive Motion: Tasks often require repetitive motions, such as tightening bolts or aligning components, which can be physically demanding over time.
- Balancing: Working on high platforms or uneven surfaces requires good balance and coordination to avoid accidents.
- Exposure to Elements: Depending on the location of the job, millwrights may work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, loud environments, or dusty areas.
