Yard Controller
Location: Vaughan , ON
Pay Rate: $19.50/hour
Schedule: Friday to Monday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Position Overview
In this role, you will support daily yard and transportation operations by coordinating trailer movements, tracking trailer locations, and ensuring smooth inbound and outbound activities. You will work closely with shunters, warehouse teams, carriers, and management to keep yard operations safe, organized, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor trailer movements within the distribution centre yard.
- Track trailer locations and maintain accurate records in the Yard Management System (YMS).
- Support inbound and outbound operations by prioritizing trailer movements.
- Communicate updates with shunters, operations teams, carriers, and management.
- Follow yard safety procedures and report hazards or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with operational reports.
- Identify and resolve shipping, receiving, and yard-related issues.
- Manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid G2 driver's licence.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
- Previous experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, or distribution is an asset.
- Experience with a Yard Management System (YMS), including systems such as Zebra, is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting tools.
