About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and independent Senior Full Stack Java Developer to join our application development team. This role is ideal for a hands-on developer who can take ownership of requirements from the initial conversation through design, development, integration, testing, and deployment.
The ideal candidate will be React-focused, with strong hands-on experience building modern front-end applications and solid Java/Spring Boot experience on the backend. Angular experience is not required; developers with strong React expertise should be comfortable learning and transitioning to Angular as needed.
We are looking for developers, not architects or people managers. The successful candidate will be technically strong, self-motivated, comfortable working independently, and willing to take ownership of delivering solutions through completion. Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Devin, or similar tools is highly desirable.
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of application development initiatives from requirements understanding through design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Work directly with users and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Independently analyze requirements, determine the appropriate technical approach, and deliver high-quality, maintainable code.
- Design and develop full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, and microservices.
- Build responsive and scalable front-end applications with a strong focus on React.
- Integrate front-end applications with backend services and third-party systems through REST APIs and other service interfaces.
- Understand existing Java/Spring Boot code and frameworks sufficiently to integrate, modify, troubleshoot, and extend APIs and backend functionality.
- Apply strong programming fundamentals to develop efficient, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
- Work with microservices primarily from an application integration and development perspective.
- Perform code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to ensure coding standards, quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Work closely with junior developers to explain technical concepts, assign development tasks, review their code, and guide them toward effective coding practices.
- Mentor junior developers without directly managing them.
- Collaborate with other developers, business stakeholders, QA, DevOps, and technology teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot complex application and integration issues and drive them through resolution.
- Participate in testing, debugging, deployment, and post-production support activities.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools, including Copilot, Devin, or similar technologies, to improve development productivity while maintaining code quality and engineering standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve application performance, development efficiency, code quality, and overall user experience.
- Take ownership of assigned deliverables and remain accountable until the solution is successfully completed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of professional software/application development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong proficiency in React is required.
- Experience developing modern front-end applications using React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Strong understanding of API integration, particularly RESTful APIs.
- Ability to understand existing Java/Spring Boot code and integrate or consume APIs effectively.
- Working knowledge of Core Java fundamentals; extensive Java architecture expertise is not required.
- Experience working with microservices, particularly from an integration and application-development perspective.
- Strong understanding of software development fundamentals, application structure, coding practices, and efficient programming techniques.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience with application testing, debugging, code reviews, and deployment processes.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to understand requirements directly from users’/business stakeholders and independently convert them into technical solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Demonstrated ability to take a task or requirement from start to finish with minimal supervision.
- Experience mentoring and guiding junior developers.
