What would you do as our Buyer?

The Buyer will be responsible for managing inventory levels and controlling the purchasing of raw materials for our manufacturing facility. This role is KPI-driven with a strong focus to identify and execute opportunities to optimize inventory turns and reduce costs while excelling with high fill rates. The role also requires a need for experience in importing product from overseas into Canada.

You would also:

Process PO orders with our suppliers as required
Negotiate pricing, quality and lead times with suppliers of raw materials
Manually review, receive and enter daily orders into the ERP
Oversee Receipt Entry of purchase orders by addressing any exceptions that may arise from the receiving activities
Complete change orders and delivery expedite requests
Item maintenance: setting up new part numbers as required
Investigate factory RGA’s (returned goods), where applicable
Monitor deliveries and shipments to reconcile inventory, and follow up on late shipments
Assist the Senior Procurement Specialist with all required stock adjustments, scrap product & obsolete items as assigned, along with month-end reporting activities
Monitor and inspect the levels of raw material to mitigate shortages
Monitor and adjust safety stock levels and make appropriate stocking decisions
Monitor and respond to non-forecasted changes in regional demand affecting inventory levels and service levels
Utilize reports, inventory applications and processes to achieve inventory availability and fill rate objectives
Review inventory performance, identifying root cause for stock outs and developing plans to close the gap
Maintain, monitor and action KPIs
Employ continuous improvement approaches to identify opportunities to reduce costs related to replenishment and inventory stocking practices
Identify and trouble-shoot products that are underperforming expected service levels and develop appropriate response plans
Identify, develop, and implement cost-saving initiatives across assigned commodity categories, leveraging supplier negotiations, value engineering opportunities, alternative sourcing strategies, and process improvements while maintaining quality, service, and delivery requirements
Other responsibilities as required

The Skills and Experience you need:

BSc/BA in business administration or supply chain or relevant field
Relevant qualifications (e.g. CPIM or CITT) are an asset
3-5 years’ experience as an Inventory Coordinator or similar position

Proficiency with ERP systems for inventory management, material planning, and purchasing; Oracle and/or JD Edwards (JDE) experience preferred.

Strong quantitative skills with the ability to create and interpret meaningful reports
Working knowledge of customs documentation and importing process and activities around importing product into Canada
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
A sense of urgency and the ability to deal with change and the shifting demands within the business environment
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities

Partner with key stakeholders to improve and support inventory programs, processes, policies, and initiatives.

Strong ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve business objectives.
Prior experience working on project teams is an asset
