Original job description

The Managing Director is accountable to attain financial and operational objectives, ensuring compliance with Company policies and external regulations. The Managing Director participates in strategic planning, with responsibility for converting strategy into actionable business plans and annual budgets. Directly and indirectly through General Managers, this role oversees daily business operations and business performance for multiple business entities.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the assigned business unit(s)
Ensure the creation and implementation of a strategy designed to grow the business and enhance utilization of human resources and production assets; communicate strategy and results to the unit's employees
Ensure the development of tactical programs to pursue targeted goals and objectives; coordinate the development of key performance goals for functions and direct reports and monitor results toward KPI objectives
Provide direct management of key functional leaders in the business unit(s); engage in key hiring and talent development programs
Ensure overall delivery and quality of the company’s offerings to customers
Drive key initiatives in plant operations to achieve improvements in operational excellence
Engage in key or targeted customer activities
Evaluate and decide upon key investments in equipment, infrastructure, and talent
Lead as a role model for behavior, communication, compliance, and furtherance of the company culture of servant leadership; mentor the organization in living the commitments on the Strategic Road Map
Operate motor vehicle to travel locally between locations and to customer or vendor sites; may operate rental vehicles during out-of-town travel
Performs other duties as required
Regular attendance at the workplace is required
Occasional travel, including some overnight travel by ground or air transportation, is required; some international travel may be required

Key Relationships

This is a managerial role requiring collaboration with other leaders within the Business Segment, and supervision of the site leadership team.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or similar
A minimum of eight (8) years of comprehensive leadership experience; experience in a manufacturing environment and/or commercial installation/service business is preferred
Comprehensive understanding of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, etc) as demonstrated by at least five (5) years of P&L accountability
Proficiency in ERP systems to effectively extract and analyze supply chain, manufacturing, and sales data
Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office products; proficiency at an intermediate level for both Word and Excel is essential
Professional communication skills, both verbal and written (English)
Valid Driver License and acceptable driving record
Valid Passport and ability to travel internationally may be required

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a typical office environment; occasional visits to production and warehouse/yard facilities may be required.

Employees must be able to perform the essential functions listed as job responsibilities and the physical activities below; reasonable accommodation(s) may be offered to assist qualified employees with disabilities in performing the essential functions.
• Sit for extended periods while operating phone and computer
• Traverse facility buildings and yard, both indoor and outdoor; navigate paved and unpaved surfaces and sometimes uneven or irregular terrain
• Frequently climb steps and stairs
• Occasionally stoop, squat, kneel, bend, and reach above shoulder-height and down to the floor
• Occasionally lift, carry (moderate distances), and push/pull up to twenty-five (25) lbs
• Operate motor vehicle and/or golf cart to travel between campus buildings and to alternate nearby locations
