Job Description
Structure the deal, protect the business, and help our sellers close with confidence
At Assent, we help the world’s most responsible companies build stronger, more transparent supply chains. As we scale globally, our Deal Desk plays a critical role in turning complex customer needs into clean, compliant, and profitable agreements, and in doing it fast enough to keep deals moving.
We’re looking for a Deal Desk Specialist to join our Sales Operations team and act as a trusted advisor to our global Account Executives (New Business and Customer Expansion) and Account Managers (Renewals and Renewals with Expansion). You’ll own the full arc of non-standard deals: shaping pricing and packaging, building quotes, navigating approvals, and partnering with Legal and Finance on contract terms. You’ll also serve as a go-to resource for our Deal Desk Coordinator.
This role is ideal for someone who has lived inside a Deal Desk, thrives in a deadline-driven environment, has sharp commercial judgment, and enjoys being the person sellers turn to when a deal gets complicated.
What you’ll do
Structure complex deals – Partner with Account Executives and Account Managers to design pricing and packaging for non-standard scenarios such as multi-year, ramped, co-termed, multi-entity, and bundled deals, balancing customer needs with margin and policy.
Build and issue quotes – Generate accurate, well-structured quotes in Salesforce CPQ, review quotes prepared by the Coordinator, and make sure every quote reflects approved terms.
Run approvals and deal governance – Manage approval workflows and discount thresholds, route exceptions to the right approvers in Finance, Sales leadership, and Legal, and maintain a clear record of how and why each deal was approved.
Review contract terms with Legal – Triage non-standard terms in order forms, amendments, and customer paper; flag commercial risk; and work with Legal and Finance on fallback positions, billing, and revenue implications before a deal moves forward.
Support renewals and amendments – Structure renewals, upsells, co-terms, and mid-term changes so that customer contracts, Salesforce records, and billing stay in sync.
Ensure clean booking and handoff – Validate closed-won deals for accuracy and completeness, and partner with Finance to ensure smooth order processing and booking.
Guide and support the Coordinator – Act as the first point of escalation for the Deal Desk Coordinator, reviewing work, coaching on deal policy, and modeling high standards of quality and turnaround.
Analyze deal data – Track and report on discount trends, approval turnaround, deal cycle time, and quote-to-close performance, and turn findings into recommendations for the Manager and Revenue Operations leadership.
Own the playbook – Maintain pricing guidelines, deal desk policies, approval matrices, and SOPs, and keep them current as products, packaging, and policies evolve.
Champion systems improvements – Recommend enhancements to Salesforce quoting and approval flows, submit change requests, and take part in user acceptance testing for new releases.
Be a field advocate – Train and enable Account Executives and Account Managers on deal desk processes and act as the voice of the field in projects that affect how deals get done.
Augment the work with AI – Use AI tools to augment Deal Desk workflows. Review every output, share effective prompts and workflows with the team, and follow Assent’s guidelines for responsible AI use and for handling customer and pricing data.
Triage contracts with AI – Use AI to flag non-standard terms and compare customer paper against our standard language before routing it to Legal, so Legal receives a focused, prioritized review. Legal keeps final judgment on all contract terms.
Speed up approvals and quote QA with AI – Use AI to draft consistent deal summaries and approval justifications for approvers, and to cross-check quotes, order forms, and Salesforce records for discrepancies before booking.
Build self-serve knowledge – Help create and maintain an AI-powered Deal Desk assistant grounded in our SOPs and pricing guidelines, so Account Executives and Account Managers can get fast answers to common questions.
Partner cross-functionally – Collaborate regularly with Finance, Legal, Marketing, and Product to keep go-to-market processes aligned and compliant.
Qualifications
What you bring
3+ years of experience in a Deal Desk, Revenue Operations, or Sales Operations role with a clear deal desk focus, ideally in a fast-growing B2B SaaS environment.
Hands-on experience building quotes and pricing non-standard deals, including subscription, multi-year, ramped, and co-termed structures, plus renewals and amendments.
Proven, hands-on Salesforce CPQ experience (required), including building quotes, product and pricing rules, and approval flows, along with strong Salesforce skills across Accounts, Opportunities, and quotes.
Working knowledge of SaaS contract terms such as order forms, amendments, payment terms, auto-renewals, and price protection, with the judgment to spot risk and know when to bring in Legal.
Solid grasp of core SaaS metrics and concepts, including bookings, ACV, TCV, and ARR, and how deal structure affects billing and revenue recognition.
Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), especially in Sheets for modeling pricing scenarios and analyzing deal data.
Working experience with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude, with real examples of using them to improve a process or workflow, and sound judgment about when to verify outputs and what data is appropriate to share.
Excellent communication and influencing skills; you can explain policy clearly, say no constructively, and offer an alternative that still gets the deal done.
High attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy, documentation, and audit-ready records.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills; you stay calm and accurate through high-volume periods and tight end-of-quarter deadlines.
A collaborative, coachable mindset; you build strong relationships across functions and geographies and enjoy helping teammates grow.
