Job Description
The Senior Accountant performs and oversees full-cycle accounting activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards. This role serves as a subject matter expert for shared services accounting and accounts payable processes, supports financial reporting and analysis, and drives process improvements and system optimization, including AI initiatives. The Senior Accountant provides day-to-day guidance to team members, supports ERP implementation and transition projects, and helps build a high-performing shared services accounting function with strong opportunities for growth into a team lead role.
Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee full-cycle accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Approve and execute payments and banking transactions in a timely and controlled manner.
- Act as a subject matter expert for shared service center accounting and accounts payable processes, providing guidance and support to the team and stakeholders.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, to ensure accounts are accurate and properly supported.
- Prepare and post journal entries and support all period close activities to meet reporting deadlines.
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations to ensure proper elimination and accurate reporting.
- Oversee and execute payments and bank transactions, ensuring adherence to internal controls and procedures.
- Perform master data activities related to accounting and accounts payable, maintaining data integrity and consistency.
- Support financial reporting, audits, and regulatory requirements by preparing schedules, documentation, and analyses as needed.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and present insights to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials to support consistent and efficient operations.
- Act as a subject matter expert for shared service center accounting processes and support knowledge transfer and training across the organization, including onboarding and training of new hires.
- Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives, system optimization, and the leveraging of AI tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with ERP implementation and transition project teams to ensure smooth integration of accounting and accounts payable processes.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and training to team members to build capability and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Execute and supervise the team to meet shared service center service deliverables in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, period close, and financial reporting activities.
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Hands-on experience with journal entries and period close processes in a corporate or shared services environment.
- Experience managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations in a multi-entity environment.
- Demonstrated ability to execute and approve payments and banking transactions with strong attention to internal controls.
- Proficiency in financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting and IFRS principles and their practical application in financial reporting.
- Experience working in a shared service setup where accounting and accounts payable operate as one integrated team.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, including experience with Oracle and SAP.
- Strong skills in process improvement and system optimization, including the ability to identify and implement enhancements.
- Ability to develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and training materials.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines during period close.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance to team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to supervise and guide a team to meet SLAs and KPIs in a shared services environment.

- Experience working in a growing, transformation-focused organization, particularly in environments undergoing ERP implementation and process improvement initiatives.
- Background in shared services for accounting and accounts payable, with exposure to global operations.
- Familiarity with leveraging AI tools and automation in accounting and finance processes.
- Experience supporting external and internal audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ability to mentor and develop team members, with an interest in progressing into a team lead role.
- Comfort working in a profit-sharing environment where performance contributes to additional earning potential.

Work Environment
This role operates within a shared services accounting environment that integrates accounting and accounts payable into a single team. Standard work hours are typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with possible overtime during period close to meet reporting deadlines and service commitments. The position supports a global organization undergoing significant growth, ERP transformation, process improvements, and shared services expansion, providing a dynamic and evolving workplace. Work is structured on a hybrid basis with a requirement to be in the office four days per week. Occasional travel may be required, though not on a constant basis. Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
