Original job description

At ATB, we exist to make it possible for our clients, team members and communities. Our purpose is more than aspirational. It's a real commitment we live every day through our values (what we call the ATB ID).

About

Life at ATB is about more than work. In fact, we’re consistently recognized as one of Canada's top employers thanks to our high-care, high-performance culture, upheld by the three commitments we make to our team members:

Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities.

Thrive together: We want you - the unique, authentic you - to feel safe and celebrated at work. We're on a continuous journey to build the most flexible and inclusive programs.

Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development.

About The Role

This position has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 1-2 day(s) on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.

As ATB’s next AI Security Developer, you'll help us build and operate the security capabilities needed to protect ATB's growing use of artificial intelligence. You'll develop and integrate security tools, automation, and safeguards that help us understand how AI is being used, identify risks, and protect our applications, data, and systems. This is a hands-on security role where you'll work closely with cybersecurity, technology, and AI development teams to make secure AI adoption practical, scalable and consistent.

Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain AI security tools, integrations, and automation using modern programming languages and APIs.
  • Implement, review and operate security controls for AI applications, large language models (LLMs), and autonomous AI agents.
  • Build integrations with AI platforms, model gateways, and security tools to improve visibility, monitoring, and enforcement of security policies.
  • Develop automated testing capabilities to identify AI-specific vulnerabilities, including prompt injection, sensitive data exposure, insecure tool usage, and excessive agent permissions.
  • Implement safeguards such as input and output validation, model guardrails, access controls, and secure API integrations.
  • Develop monitoring and logging capabilities to track AI activity, detect unusual behaviour, and support security investigations.
  • Integrate security testing and controls into development pipelines to help teams identify and address risks earlier.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and security solutions through hands-on experimentation and proof-of-concept development.
  • Collaborate with application development, cloud security, security architecture, and AI teams to implement practical security solutions.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and continuously improve the reliability, performance, and effectiveness of AI security capabilities.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • Experience developing software using Python or another modern programming language, with a strong understanding of APIs, integrations, and software engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs), generative AI applications, and AI development frameworks.
  • Understanding of application security fundamentals, including authentication, authorization, secrets management, secure coding, and API security.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, Git, and modern CI/CD development workflows.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Understanding of AI specific security risks, including prompt injection, data leakage, insecure tool execution, and excessive agent permissions.
  • Familiarity with AI agents, tool calling, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or AI gateway technologies is considered an asset.
  • Experience with security automation, vulnerability testing, monitoring, or security tooling integrations is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and infrastructure as code practices is considered an asset.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, with the ability to work independently through unfamiliar technical challenges.
  • Ability to collaborate with developers, security professionals, and technology teams to deliver practical solutions.
  • A diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience.

Don’t meet all the requirements on the list?

A resume only goes so far in expressing who you are and the unique perspectives you bring. If you believe your skills and experience align with the role - but you might not check all the boxes - we want to hear from you. We encourage candidates from all work backgrounds, equity-seeking communities and experience levels to apply. If you’re seeking a career where your drive, perspective and growth are celebrated, we want to hear from you.

We’re dedicated to building a workforce reflective of those within our communities, and a culture where our team members are equipped with what they need to succeed - their way. Part of creating an inclusive workplace is recognizing our role in advancing Truth and Reconciliation. We are committed to meeting and exceeding the standards set out in the Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations program created by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.
