About the Role

ATB Cormark Capital Markets (“ATB Cormark”) is currently hiring an Associate for the firm’s Investment Banking – Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team, based out of our Toronto office. Associates play a critical role in the design, structuring, and execution of complex transactions, including buy-side and sell-side M&A, divestitures, and other strategic advisory mandates. Working alongside senior leadership, you will drive transaction execution and build client relationships.

Accountabilities

Building and maintaining complex financial models, including valuation, pro forma, and transaction models.
Preparing pitch books, confidential information memorandums, management presentations, and other marketing materials.
Conducting in-depth industry and company research and analysis.
Participating in due diligence processes, including coordinating with clients and external advisors.
Managing transaction processes, from initial client meetings to closing.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and industry professionals.
Staying up-to-date on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments.
Contributing to the team's knowledge base and best practices.
Mentoring and training junior team members.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

Undergraduate or MBA degree with 2+ years of experience across investment banking, corporate finance, M&A, private equity, or transaction advisory.
Experience in the execution of M&A transactions and process management, demonstrated through prior work experience and professional achievements.
Proven capacity to navigate high-pressure environments, seamlessly balance competing priorities, and consistently deliver on strict deadlines.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Strong financial modelling skills, attention to detail and technical skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Capital IQ, Bloomberg, etc.).
Capable of driving independent workstreams while seamlessly collaborating across lean deal teams.
