About the Role

As Manager, Commercial Development, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for business development, commercial strategy, customer solutions, commercial contracting, key account management, and stakeholder engagement across ATCO Energy Systems' regulated natural gas operations. Working closely with large industrial customers, producers, natural gas suppliers, and economic development partners, you will identify and advance opportunities that support energy infrastructure growth, investment attraction, and long-term customer value.

What You’ll Do

Lead business development and commercial growth initiatives that support new customer connections and expansion opportunities across Alberta.
Develop innovative commercial strategies, contract structures, and customer solutions that enhance access to natural gas transportation and utility services.
Drive strategic partnerships with upstream natural gas suppliers through commercial negotiations, contract management, and market-based planning activities.
Leverage market analysis, demand forecasting, data analytics, and customer insights to identify emerging growth opportunities and support investment decisions.
Build and maintain relationships with key customers, industry associations, municipalities, regulators, and economic development organizations to support regional growth and investment attraction.
Champion the use of CRM tools, Salesforce, and customer data to strengthen customer engagement and enable informed decision-making.
Lead, coach, and develop a team focused on customer success, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring

A post-secondary degree in Engineering, Commerce, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
10 or more years of related experience in commercial development, business development, or a comparable field.
Demonstrated knowledge of account management and business development practices.
Strong leadership, communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
Experience preparing business cases and clear, persuasive business communications.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical, and time-management capabilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
A valid Class 5 driver’s licence and the ability to travel outside Calgary approximately 10% of the time, primarily within Alberta.
Knowledge of the natural gas industry and utility rate design is an asset.
Experience with Salesforce and data analysis or manipulation is an asset.
A professional designation or advanced degree, such as an MBA or CFA, is an asset
