Why Work Here?

Bring your expertise to a place where people, ideas, and opportunities come together. At ATCO, you’ll collaborate across teams, grow your skills through meaningful challenges, and help shape better ways of working. It’s an opportunity to make a practical impact every day while contributing to a bigger purpose: creating prosperity and opportunity for generations to come.

About the Role:

Help turn business needs into the goods and services that keep ATCO moving. As a Procurement Specialist, you’ll be a primary point of contact for procurement needs, guiding purchases from requisition intake and triage through timely, accurate purchase order execution with third-party vendors. You’ll apply independent judgement, commodity expertise, and knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures to manage buying assignments, prepare purchase orders and RFx packages, and lead bidding activities when required. Working closely with Strategic Sourcing, you’ll ensure requisitions align with category strategy while supporting a smooth, reliable procurement process.

What You Get to Do:

  • Manage the requisition-to-purchase-order process in line with ATCO policies, including review, issuance, blanket-order releases, orders against contract purchase agreements, change orders, error resolution, and close-out
  • Monitor orders for timely delivery and resolve pricing, contractual, delivery, shipment, and supply issues
  • Maintain organized contract and purchase order files; gather, classify, and analyze information for purchase agreements, contracts, releases, change orders, requisitions, and receipts to support compliance
  • Coordinate vendor pre-qualification between Procurement and vendors to ensure adherence to ATCO policies and practices
  • Act as the procurement contact for internal stakeholders, providing updates, support, and guidance and coordinating action items with end users, suppliers, and contract administrators
  • Lead procurement meetings, presentations, and training, and support junior buyers’ training and development
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining professionalism, organization, and attention to detail
  • Report on procurement activities, expenses, and savings achieved
  • Lead informal bidding activities (RFQ, RFI), receiving and summarizing bids, analyzing and evaluating vendor responses using spreadsheets and other tools, and recommending outcomes
  • Collaborate with end users and sourcing and contract operations teams on pre-award contracting and vendor agreements based on stakeholder-provided scope and specifications
  • Interpret specifications, contracts, purchase orders, and work orders; recommend procurement methods aligned with financial and contractual approval levels and procurement and contracting guidelines
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, efficiency, and compliance

What You Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, Project Management, Finance, Supply Chain or related field
  • A Supply Chain Management (SCMP) designation or enrollment in Supply Chain Canada’s certification program is preferred
  • 3+ years of purchasing and contract experience, including materials purchasing; additional experience in services purchasing is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of procurement, tendering, and contract management processes
  • Ability to analyze bids, contracts, and specifications
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, ERP systems (Oracle preferred), and data analysis tools (Power BI preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality customer service and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the utilities industry is preferred

What We Offer:

  • A culture based on caring, integrity, agility, collaboration, and striving for excellence
  • Competitive compensation
  • Flex benefits
  • Tuition assistance program
  • Training and mentorship programs
  • Charitable donation matching

We would like to thank everyone for their application; however, only those being considered for an interview will be contacted.
