Original job description

As a joint venture of the University of Basel and the University Hospitals Basel, the Department of Biomedicine (DBM) brings together basic and clinical scientists to advance the understanding of health and disease.

We are home to more than 67 research groups and over 800 employees across six locations in the heart of Basel. Our collaborative and international environment fosters innovation, excellence, and impactful research.

The Developmental Genetics led by Prof. Aimée Zuniga, is looking for a Research Assistant/Technician.

Join our community and help shape the future of biomedicine.

Your position

The Research Assistant will join the Developmental Genetics Research Group, which investigates the signalling interactions and molecular mechanisms controlling embryonic development. Our research uses genetically engineered mouse models, mouse models of human diseases, and organoid systems to investigate the gene regulatory networks that control normal organ development and the alterations resulting in congenital disorders. We combine these experimental models with state-of-the-art genetic and molecular technologies, genome-wide approaches, and advanced 3D confocal imaging techniques.

Your profile

Applicants must have completed an apprenticeship as molecular biology research technician (Laborant:in) and/or hold a BSc/MSc in molecular biology and excellent skills in molecular biology. Prior expertise in using mouse models and/or transcriptome/analysis (immunofluorescence cells/frozen embryo sections, protein biochemistry etc) will be an asset for the position. Applicants with certification for animal experimentation (LTK1 or FELASA certification) and experience in using mouse models will be given preference. Good knowledge of (spoken) English is important as this is the working language.

We offer you

We offer a stimulating discovery research environment in an internationally renowned research team at the University of Basel. The group is located in one of the flagship Research Institutes at the Department of Biomedicine with state-of-the-art research facilities and excellent training and career development opportunities.

For More Information, Please Go To

https://www.devgenbasel.com/

The University of Basel is an equal opportunity employer that offers competitive salaries.

Application

Please submit a letter of motivation, CV, copies of the relevant diplomas, degrees and certifications, brief summary of research and technology expertise, and the names and email addresses of minimally two referees.

The position is available from January 1, 2027 or as agreed.
