Overview

Our Geotechnical Team in Ontario is expanding and we are now looking for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. This position is located in Etobicoke and/or Vaughan, Ontario but we would consider applicants in the greater Toronto area as well that have good geotechnical skills from projects such as transportation, tunnels, highways, rail, municipal roads and bridges.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer with good technical and engineering skills and a professional engineering designation - (P.Eng) to work on exciting projects where they can make their mark and move their career forward. This role offers a hybrid work environment, growth potential and a good work-life balance.

Your role

Work closely with a variety of AtkinsRéalis professionals in multiple sectors such as transportation, tunnel, rail & transit, energy, cities and developments as well as industrial.
Participate on multi-disciplinary teams and projects and will be expected to collaborate on multidisciplinary projects of all scales.
Execute major programs, supporting complex proposals, mentoring of junior staff, as well as act as technical reference.
Develop and expand our infrastructure geotechnics capability by building on the existing portfolio of our rapidly expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.

About You

Must have 8+ years of holding P.Eng. License and practicing in Ontario, and over 12+ year with strong Geotechnical Engineering experience.
Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying and pursuing business development and market growth opportunities.
Proven senior experience in tunnels, highways, rail, municipal roads and bridges, with experience with the Ministry of Transportation in Ontario considered as a strong asset.
Lead and manage geotechnical projects in accordance with approved scopes of work, budgets, schedules, reporting requirements, and client agreements.
Proven geotechnical design experience, with excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to support the development of teams.

Additional information

Expected compensation for this role is between $125,000 - $171,900 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage geotechnical projects, including major programs and complex proposals, while meeting approved scopes, budgets, schedules, reporting requirements, and client agreements. Serve as a technical reference, mentor junior staff, collaborate across disciplines and sectors, and grow the team’s infrastructure geotechnics capability and client portfolio.

Requirements

Applicants must have more than 12 years of strong geotechnical engineering experience and at least 8 years holding a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license and practicing in Ontario. They should bring senior experience in tunnels, highways, rail, municipal roads, and bridges, along with proven geotechnical design, project leadership, client relationship, business development, interpersonal, and technical skills; Ontario Ministry of Transportation experience is an asset.
