Overview

AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups. We have been providing a wide range of services to the nuclear industry in Canada and around the world since for more than 60 years. We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial success of complex projects through reporting, analysis, forecasting, and accounting activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial results, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive project outcomes.

This is a 12-month contract position with strong potential to transition into a permanent role based on business needs and individual performance.

Your role

Project Accountant supporting a major contributor project(s) or a portfolio of projects.
Preparation of Monthly Project Reporting and Analysis on Revenue, Gross Margin, Cash Flow & Bookings/Backlog.
Ensure Accounts Receivable and Work in Progress are current and follow up on any overdue or outstanding amounts.
Assist with preparation of Project Forecasts, Budgets and Estimates.
Prepare monthly Revenue Recognition and Accrual entries, in line with IFRS 15.
Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations/Entries.
Review and process Project Changes/Reforecasts and ensure they are accurately reflected in the Oracle System.
Ensure all month end entries/reporting deadlines set out by Business Unit or Corporate are met.
Maintain good communication with relevant Project Stakeholders including Project Controls, Procurement, Project Management and Finance/Shared Services.
Ensure Letters of credit and other guarantees are in place and meet contractual obligations.
Perform Ad-hoc reporting requests, as required.
Contribute to team Process Improvement initiatives.

About You

Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
CPA designation (or progress toward completion) is considered a strong asset.
Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, finance, project accounting, or a related financial role.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong focus on Excel; experience with financial systems and ERP platforms is an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across multiple stakeholder groups.
Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Self-motivated team player with a continuous improvement mindset and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process enhancement.
