About Us

Atlas Power Technologies is a Canadian cleantech company based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, specializing in the development and manufacturing of cylindrical supercapacitors for high-power and grid-scale energy storage applications.

We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Chemical Engineer to join our Process and Cell Development team. The successful candidate will contribute to research and development, electrode and cell manufacturing, process optimization, and quality control. This position offers an opportunity to work across the entire cell manufacturing process, from electrode fabrication to cell assembly, performance testing, and production scale-up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and optimize cell manufacturing equipment, including ovens, cell assembly equipment, laser welders, and electrolyte injection machines.
  • Perform quality control inspections, cell testing, and data analysis to evaluate cell performance, consistency, and reliability.
  • Investigate manufacturing defects and cell performance issues through systematic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support process development, material evaluation, and manufacturing trials to improve product quality, production efficiency, and yield.
  • Analyze experimental and production data, document findings, and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of production equipment to ensure reliable operation.
  • Monitor material inventory, coordinate production requirements, and support production planning and scheduling.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and day-to-day supervision to production technicians.
  • Maintain accurate production records, follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Hands-on laboratory or manufacturing experience in chemistry, chemical processing, or a related field.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to work directly with manufacturing equipment, including equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Good understanding of electrochemistry, materials, and chemical engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical and manufacturing challenges.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, technical documentation, and report preparation.
  • Experience in battery or supercapacitor is an asset.
  • Familiarity with electrode preparation, calendering, cell assembly, or electrochemical testing is an asset.
  • Previous experience in pilot-scale manufacturing, process optimization, or production quality control is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
