Original job description

Aurea Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented Supply Chain & Operations Manager to join its team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Aurea is a cleantech company making wind power portable with the Shine Turbine, a compact wind turbine that lets people generate power wherever they go.

As we establish overseas manufacturing, grow our eCommerce sales, and expand into retail, the successful candidate will keep production, inventory, and fulfillment running smoothly. Your main goals will be to move products reliably from our manufacturer to our international warehouses, retailers and customers, and to give our team accurate information to plan and make decisions.

This is a full-time role reporting to our Chief Operating Officer. You'll work closely with our engineering, sales and marketing team and act as a point of contact for our manufacturer, freight forwarder, customs broker and third-party logistics (3PL) partners. You'll also handle some general office management.

What you'll do:
Inventory management and forecasting
  • Keep accurate records of inventory levels, incoming shipments, open orders, and stock allocated across warehouses and sales channels for internal reporting.
  • Work with sales and marketing to turn demand forecasts into purchasing, production, and replenishment plans.
  • Monitor lead times and stock levels to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
  • Report regularly on inventory levels, goods in transit, delivery risks, upcoming purchasing needs, and freight costs.
Freight and 3PL management
  • Coordinate international freight from our manufacturer to our 3PLs in North America and Europe.
  • Work with freight forwarders and customs brokers to book shipments and prepare accurate documentation, including dangerous goods paperwork for our product, which contains lithium-ion batteries.
  • Track freight costs, delivery schedules, warehouse receipts, and stock levels.
  • Manage day-to-day 3PL relationships and monitor fulfillment accuracy and service.
Retailer and customer fulfillment
  • Manage and fulfill retailer purchase orders (POs) for major North American retailers, making sure stock is available and delivery deadlines are met.
  • Meet each retailer's vendor requirements for packaging, labelling, documentation, and advance shipping notices (ASNs)
  • Use Rithum, a platform used by our retail partners to manage dropshipping, inventory, and order fulfillment.
  • Support both shipments to retail locations and Shopify orders fulfilled through our 3PLs.
  • Investigate and track shipping issues, returns, and retailer chargebacks and deductions, and fix the causes so they don't repeat.
Manufacturing & Supplier coordination
  • Track production schedules, component availability and shipment readiness with our manufacturing partner.
  • Coordinate with our manufacturer to source materials/components from suppliers.
  • Work collaboratively as needed with our overseas contracted manufacturing and quality engineer who supports production builds, factory inspections, and technical problem-solving.
  • Oversee management and quality of accessory inventory by working with external suppliers.
  • Make sure quality concerns and proposed product changes reach our engineering team for review and approval.
  • Identify, validate, and onboard new potential suppliers.
Operations and office
  • Maintain operational schedules, trackers, and procedures so responsibilities, deadlines, and next steps are clear.
  • Spot delays, gaps, and risks early, recommend solutions, and follow through to resolution.
  • Improve our processes and systems as the business grows.
  • Handle general day-to-day office operations for our Dartmouth facility, including purchasing office supplies, samples, and prototyping materials.
What you bring
  • 4+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, inventory management or operations, ideally with consumer electronics or other physical products.
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers, manufacturers, international freight providers and 3PLs.
  • A strong understanding of international shipping, customs, tariffs, and freight logistics.
  • Experience meeting large North American retailers' vendor requirements, such as routing guides, labelling, ASNs, and on-time delivery.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a reliable approach to tracking information and following through.
  • The foresight to anticipate inventory needs, scheduling conflicts, and delivery risks.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance several priorities at once.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication, including with partners whose first language is not English.
  • High confidence with spreadsheets, inventory systems, operational data, and reporting.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate overseas calls and shipment tracking.
  • A practical, accountable approach and comfort working in a small, growing company.
Nice to have
  • Experience with Rithum, EDI, or other retailer platforms.
  • Experience shipping lithium batteries or other dangerous goods (for example UN3481)
  • Experience importing into the European Union, including managing VAT, and customs requirements.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel, and inventory systems.
What success looks like

We have accurate inventory information, realistic production and delivery plans, and dependable fulfillment. Our partners understand what's needed and when, issues are raised early, and our team can make decisions using clear, current information.

Why Aurea Technologies?
  • Join a passionate team that values sustainability, innovation, and outdoor adventure.
  • A 4-day compressed workweek, Monday to Thursday with nine-hour days.
  • 3 weeks of paid vacation.
  • An annual volunteer day.
  • An annual Shine Day to head out into nature on an adventure with our product.
