Avee is an online clinic platform that helps people in British Columbia see a doctor quickly, often the same day. Patients book directly or through a partner pharmacy, and more than 200 doctors care for over 300,000 patients a year on it. We're a small, fast-growing team, and technology is at the centre of how we solve problems, clinical and operational alike.

The role

You'll join a cross functional team and own a meaningful part of the platform, from understanding the problem to running what you built. That means working closely with operations, doctors and partners to figure out what's actually needed, making the design calls, and staying with the work after it ships.

Right now that includes migrating our core to a modern stack, automating more of the work around each visit, bringing AI into the product, and keeping a health-data platform secure and reliable as it grows. The common thread is scale: serving many more appointments without costs growing at the same pace.

AI agents are part of almost every step of our work, from debugging to design to code and even operate. They make a our team much more capable, while the direction, the tradeoffs and what ships remain the engineer's call. We try new tools and practices early and keep the ones that earn their place.

What you bring

• Solid experience across backend, frontend and infrastructure

• Strong fundamentals and good design judgment

• Experience evolving a live production system safely

• Good judgment about how to test and verify a change

• Interest in the product and the business behind it

• Clear communication with people outside engineering

Our stack

Django and PHP, React and Vue, MariaDB and Redis, on AWS. We also work deep integrating Oscar EMR and with the fax and VoIP systems healthcare still runs on.
