Original job description

Company Description: Avion Technologies Inc. is a precision manufacturing company based in Mississauga, Ontario, serving the aerospace, defence, and nuclear industries. We specialize in manufacturing complex components that meet demanding technical, quality, and delivery requirements.

Our team brings together manufacturing expertise, a commitment to quality, and a practical approach to solving customer challenges. Guided by our core values - Be Accountable, Work with Purpose, Can-Do Attitude, Transparency & Integrity, and Continuous Improvement - we take pride in our work and the customer relationships we build.

Lead complex manufacturing programs. Build strong customer relationships. Turn commitments into results.

We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead multiple customer programs from contract award through production, delivery, and closeout.

This senior role combines program ownership, customer relationship management, and direct leadership of a small team of Project Coordinators. Reporting to the President and General Manager, you will align cross-functional teams, resolve execution challenges, and deliver results across cost, quality, schedule, and customer satisfaction.

What You’ll Do

Own program execution

  • Manage multiple complex customer programs, establishing clear schedules, milestones, deliverables, responsibilities, and priorities.
  • Translate customer purchase orders, contractual requirements, drawings, and specifications into coordinated internal execution plans.
  • Monitor program performance, identify risks early, and lead recovery plans when commitments are at risk.
  • Oversee program closeout, including final deliveries, documentation, customer acceptance, and lessons learned.

Lead and develop your team

  • Supervise and mentor approximately two to three Project Coordinators.
  • Assign workloads, establish expectations, and hold team members accountable for timely follow-through and accurate reporting.
  • Review schedules, customer communications, action registers, and recovery plans.
  • Support onboarding, training, performance management, and professional development.

Manage customer relationships

  • Serve as the senior contact for assigned customers, leading program reviews, status meetings, and escalation discussions.
  • Communicate accurate updates on production progress, delivery schedules, engineering changes, quality concerns, and corrective actions.
  • Manage customer expectations while protecting Avion’s operational, commercial, and contractual interests.
  • Support customer visits, audits, and business reviews.

Coordinate across the business

  • Work closely with Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, Production, Quality, Inventory, Shipping, Sales, and Finance.
  • Lead internal reviews, resolve competing priorities, and track actions through completion.
  • Address material shortages, supplier delays, capacity constraints, production bottlenecks, and quality issues.
  • Escalate significant concerns with clear recommendations and practical recovery options.

Protect program performance and drive improvement

  • Monitor budgets, production hours, material requirements, scope changes, and margin risks.
  • Support revenue forecasts, shipment plans, contract reviews, and commercial discussions.
  • Ensure customer and engineering changes are reviewed, approved, documented, and communicated.
  • Maintain accurate program records within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Improve program management processes, reporting, accountability, and on-time delivery.
What You Bring
  • At least 5-7 years of progressive program or project management experience in aerospace, defence, nuclear, automotive, industrial, or another precision manufacturing environment.
  • At least two years of leadership experience, including supervising, mentoring, or formally directing Project Coordinators, Project Managers, or cross-functional teams.
  • A proven record of managing multiple complex customer programs and delivering against schedule, cost, quality, and delivery commitments.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, production planning, procurement, scheduling, capacity management, inventory, and quality systems.
  • Experience managing demanding customer relationships and resolving operational and delivery concerns.
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and contractual requirements.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with project scheduling tools and manufacturing ERP/MRP systems.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, Operations Management, Project Management, or a related field.
Assets
  • PMP or an equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience in an AS9100-certified environment.
  • Experience supporting aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, defence, nuclear, or government-related programs.
  • Familiarity with Controlled Goods, ITAR-related requirements, APQP, PPAP, First Article Inspection, configuration management, and engineering change control.
  • Knowledge of precision machining, gears, assemblies, or special processes.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
