The Opportunity
Our Global Corporate and Specialty (GCS) is a general insurance (GI) business that provides insurance solutions for large corporate and specialty products for commercial entities. The core product lines include Property, Casualty, Auto, Surety, and Equipment Breakdown (EBI).
This position is for an
Actuarial Pricing Manager focused on our
GCS Operations located in downtown Toronto. The role functions as an independent contributor that specializes in serving the pricing needs of GCS. You will join a team that provides support for the current portfolio of corporate risks and programs.
You will help set the pricing agenda for GCS P&C products (including EBI) alongside leadership teams. This will support the business’s growth and profit goals. You will also ensure your stakeholders receive timely, accurate, and relevant information to improve business insight and decision making.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, implement, and maintain the GCS technical pricing strategy, including multinational risk pricing. Build a world-class pricing infrastructure by applying pricing techniques and using the latest technologies for all GCS risks. Lead the development and implementation of pricing tools.
- Apply technical actuarial insights to inform timely and fit-for-purpose decision making for the evolving GCS book of business.
- Work closely and communicate across the business with various stakeholders to ensure the pricing vision is achieved. Be able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and engage with business partners to guide pricing proposal discussions.
- Present pricing insights to enable understanding of current and future GCS portfolios.
- Build strong collaboration with UK pricing, leveraging capabilities and tools where relevant.
- Focus on risk mitigation and building a risk-aware culture. Ensure adherence to the technical pricing standard and actuarial best practices. Advocate for risk management to business partners and maintain strong documentation of processes, decisions, and methodologies.
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years of P&C experience with at least 3 years of Commercial pricing experience.
- ACAS/FCAS designation.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics and/or related fields.
- Strong problem solving and excellent data analytical skills (SAS, R, Python, etc.).
- Innovative and proven ability to drive through change.
- Skilled communicator; with proven track records to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audience.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience in working with catastrophe models.
- Prior exposure in the corporate and specialty risk classes.
What You’ll Get
- The salary band for this position ranges from $115,000 to $145,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
