About Axis Geoscience

Axis Geoscience is a geological services provider supporting mineral exploration projects across Canada. We combine practical, boots-on-the-ground exploration experience with strong technical and academic expertise to help our clients advance projects and make new discoveries.

Our team includes geologists with undergraduate, master's, and PhD-level backgrounds, bringing together diverse experience in field exploration, geological interpretation, and mineral deposit research. We believe the best exploration results come from combining sound geological thinking with quality fieldwork.

The Opportunity

Axis Geoscience is seeking an Exploration Geologist to join our team on a full-time basis. We are primarily targeting candidates with 2–5 years of mineral exploration experience who are looking to expand their technical capabilities and contribute to a variety of exploration projects across Canada.

Working alongside experienced field professionals and academically accomplished geologists, you will participate in field exploration, diamond drilling programs, geological data collection, and technical interpretation. You will gain exposure to multiple deposit styles, geological environments, and exploration methods while contributing to meaningful exploration work and new discoveries.

We place a strong emphasis on practical exploration, collaboration, and professional development. Our goal is to give our geologists the knowledge, support, and tools they need to do excellent work and grow in their careers.

Applicants of All Experience Levels Welcome

Although this position primarily targets candidates with 2–5 years of experience, applicants at all career stages are encouraged to apply. Each application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, with responsibilities and compensation determined according to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Exploration: Conduct geological mapping, prospecting, outcrop examination, and surface sampling programs.
  • Diamond Drilling: Participate in drill program operations, core handling, geological logging, sampling, and monitoring drilling activities.
  • Geological Data Management: Maintain accurate geological logs, field notes, sample records, databases, and QA/QC documentation.
  • Sample Management: Ensure samples are properly labelled, documented, prepared, and shipped in accordance with project procedures and QA/QC requirements.
  • Geological Interpretation: Assist with or undertake geological data compilation, mapping, cross-sections, and interpretation to support exploration targeting.
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare and contribute to daily field reports, program summaries, and other technical documentation.
  • Project Support: Work collaboratively with senior geologists, field personnel, drilling contractors, and client representatives to support safe and efficient exploration programs.
  • Health and Safety: Follow company and client safety procedures, participate in hazard assessments, and maintain safe field practices.
  • Field Logistics: Assist with or coordinate field equipment, supplies, sample shipments, and general exploration program requirements, as appropriate to experience.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 2–5 years of relevant mineral exploration experience preferred.
  • Experience with geological fieldwork, sampling, data collection, and documentation.
  • Strong geological observation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to exploration projects across Canada.
  • Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to changing field conditions and project requirements.

Candidates with more or less experience than the preferred range are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities will be matched to the successful candidate's qualifications and demonstrated capabilities.

Additional Assets
  • Experience with diamond drill core logging, geological mapping, prospecting, or sampling.
  • Familiarity with geological software and databases, including QGIS, ArcGIS, Leapfrog, or MX Deposit.
  • Understanding of sample QA/QC procedures and chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating exploration programs.
  • First Aid certification or experience working in remote exploration environments.
  • Eligibility for Geologist-in-Training (G.I.T.) registration or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) registration with a relevant provincial or territorial regulatory body.
What We Offer
  • Experienced mentorship: Work alongside exploration geologists with undergraduate, master's, and PhD-level backgrounds.
  • Diverse exploration experience: Gain exposure to multiple deposit styles, geological settings, commodities, and exploration methods across Canada.
  • Professional development: Build technical knowledge and practical field skills through hands-on experience and collaboration with experienced geologists.
  • Competitive compensation: Compensation based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
  • Predictable rotations: Typically a three-weeks-on, two-weeks-off schedule, depending on project requirements.
  • Travel, accommodations, and meals covered: All work-related travel, accommodations, and meals are covered by Axis Geoscience for the duration of assigned work rotations, from departure to return home.
Work Conditions

This is a field-based position involving travel to exploration projects throughout Canada. Work may include extended periods at remote camps or field accommodations, outdoor activities in variable weather conditions, and physically demanding fieldwork.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working away from home, following rotational schedules, and adapting to changing project locations and operational requirements.
