Sudden Sally is a busy, social, high-energy restaurant and bar where great food, genuine service, and a strong team culture come together to create memorable guest experiences. We are looking for an experienced and passionate General Manager to lead our operation, inspire our team, and drive business results.

This leadership role is responsible for the overall management of the restaurant, including guest experience, financial performance, people leadership, operational excellence, and community engagement. The General Manager sets the standard for hospitality, accountability, and teamwork while ensuring the restaurant consistently delivers an exceptional experience for both guests and employees.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Development

Recruit, hire, train, coach, and retain a high-performing team.
Build a positive workplace culture focused on respect, accountability, recognition, and development.
Lead and support department managers, supervisors, and front-line employees.
Conduct regular performance discussions and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
Create development opportunities that help employees grow their careers within the organization.
Foster strong communication and collaboration across all departments.

Guest Experience & Operations

Ensure exceptional service standards are consistently delivered.
Lead the operation with a visible and hands-on management style.
Respond to guest feedback professionally and efficiently, turning challenges into opportunities.
Monitor service quality, cleanliness, food presentation, and overall guest satisfaction.
Maintain operational standards that support efficiency, consistency, and profitability.
Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety requirements, and industry regulations.

Financial Management

Develop and manage annual operating budgets.
Achieve or exceed revenue, profitability, labour, and cost-control targets.
Monitor key financial metrics and identify opportunities to improve performance.
Manage scheduling, labour productivity, inventory controls, purchasing, and waste reduction.
Review financial reports, forecasts, and business results to support informed decision-making.
Work closely with corporate support teams to achieve business objectives.

Community & Business Development

Build relationships with local businesses, tourism partners, and community organizations.
Support marketing initiatives that increase awareness, traffic, and guest loyalty.
Identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience and grow revenue.
Represent Sudden Sally and Banff Lodging Co. professionally within the community.

Administration & Compliance

Ensure payroll, reporting, and administrative functions are completed accurately and on time.
Maintain compliance with employment standards, health and safety requirements, liquor regulations, and company policies.
Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to overall business planning and strategy.
Complete additional responsibilities as required to support operational success.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 3 to 5 years of senior restaurant or hospitality management experience in a high-volume environment.
Proven success leading teams and achieving financial targets.
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, labour management, inventory controls, and cost management.
Excellent leadership, coaching, and employee engagement skills.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Post-secondary education in Hospitality, Business, or a related field is considered an asset.
A genuine passion for hospitality, people leadership, and creating memorable guest experiences.
