You’ll be involved in engineering and programming mandates in automation, instrumentation and control. Your role will be to contribute to various phases of engineering and site work. You’ll be involved in engineering and programming mandates in automation, instrumentation and control. Your role will be to contribute to various phases of engineering and site work. You may also be called upon to help produce deliverables for digital solution mandates.
An Overview Of Your Mandates And Responsibilities
- Help produce various deliverables for an automation engineering project cycle
- Prepare plans and specifications as well as detailed engineering deliverables (piping and instrumentation diagrams, layout drawings, I/O loop and motor control diagrams, lists of cables and instruments, installation details)
- Draft reports, plans and specifications, construction and purchasing estimates and calls for tenders, where required
- Prepare technical data sheets and select instruments (flow, pressure, levels) and control valves
- Provide technical assistance during construction work (electrical and instrumentation)
- Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for distributed control systems (DCSs) and human-machine interfaces (HMIs)
- Participate in equipment commissioning and performance testing at client sites

- Bachelor’s degree in automated production engineering or electrical engineering
- Interest or relevant experience (five years or less) in automation or instrumentation, including participation in the detailed engineering of a project in the mining or energy sectors
- Available for short-term assignments at c lient offices or sites
- Advanced level of English to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally. The frequency of English use may range from occasional to daily, depending on ongoing projects
- Advanced level of French to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients in Québec

Responsibilities
Prepare automation engineering deliverables, including plans, specifications, diagrams, technical data sheets, estimates, and tender documents, and select instruments and control valves. Program PLCs for DCS and HMI systems, provide technical support during construction, and participate in commissioning and performance testing at client sites.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in automated production engineering or electrical engineering is required, along with interest or up to five years of relevant automation or instrumentation experience, including detailed engineering project participation in mining or energy. Candidates must be available for short-term assignments at client offices or sites and have advanced English and French proficiency.
