What you’ll do

The Business Operations Manager is responsible for leading administrative and workplace services for Capital Construction. The role is accountable for developing service delivery models, organizational structures, and resource strategies that ensure administrative and business support evolves to meet operational requirements and business priorities.

Lead and develop a team of unionized and management employees, including recruitment, employee development, performance management, succession planning, and labour relations.

Design and maintain the structure of the administrative support team to meet changing business needs.

Assess workload, service demands, and priorities and adjust staffing levels, roles, and resources to ensure effective service delivery.

Lead and support business improvement initiatives that simplify processes, improve service delivery, and increase operational effectiveness.

Establish service standards, performance measures, and reporting to monitor team performance and support decision- making.

Ensure effective delivery of business support services, including workplace services such as team events and conference delivery, employee onboarding and offboarding, training coordination, office equipment management, fleet administration, and staffing support activities.

Lead business planning, budgeting, workforce planning, and resource management activities.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Identify service gaps, operational challenges, and emerging business needs and implement practical solutions.

What you bring

Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Operations Management, Public Administration, or a related discipline (an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered).

Eight (8) or more years of progressive leadership experience supporting business operations, operational services, administrative functions, project delivery, or related business environments.

Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in a unionized environment, including workforce planning, organizational design, employee development, performance management, labour relations, and change management.

Demonstrated experience assessing business needs and aligning organizational structures, resources, and service delivery models to support operational objectives.

Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing complex stakeholder relationships within a large organization.

Strong knowledge of business operations, governance, budgeting, performance measurement, resource management, continuous improvement, and operational planning practices.

Exceptional relationship management, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to build consensus and achieve results across multiple stakeholder groups.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and provide recommendations regarding complex operational and business matters.

Demonstrated commitment to employee engagement, continuous improvement, innovation, and customer service excellence.
