Original job description

Why BCAA?

Feel proud of what you do and help shape the future of BC at a BC Top Employer. We’re driven by purpose – delivering peace of mind to one in three BC households with insurance, roadside assistance, auto repair, Evo Car Share and Evolve E-Bike Share. With a long history of keeping roads safe and giving back in ways that build stronger communities, we offer a wide variety of meaningful, rewarding careers that move BC forward.

We are currently hiring a Financial Analyst Co-Op Student for the January to April term to join our Financial Planning and Analysis team based at our Head Office in Burnaby, reporting to the Assistant Manager, Finance.

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience contributing to the financial analysis and reporting that inform business decisions and support BCAA’s strategic goals. Through coaching and mentorship from experienced Finance professionals, you will apply your classroom learning in real-world situations, build your FP&A knowledge and develop practical analytical and communication skills.

Who you are:

You are curious and eager to learn, ask thoughtful questions and take on new challenges.

You enjoy working with numbers and turning financial data into clear insights and presentations.

You are detail-oriented and committed to producing accurate, complete work.

You communicate clearly in writing, presentations and everyday team discussions.

You are organized, can prioritize multiple tasks and work independently when needed.

You are collaborative and interested in learning how Finance partners with teams across an organization.

You are open to new technology and interested in improving processes through automation and responsible use of AI.

What you’ll do:

Partner with Senior Financial Analysts to interpret financial data and develop insights that support business decision-making.

Perform financial and strategic analysis, including actual-to-budget comparisons, KPI analysis and trend analysis.

Use financial systems and tools to extract, analyze and interpret data for reporting and analysis.

Support data validation and reconciliation activities to help ensure financial information is accurate and complete.

Present your work clearly and effectively through written analysis, formal presentations and day-to-day team discussions.

Contribute to process improvement, automation and efficiency initiatives, including the use of AI where appropriate.

Collaborate with Accounting, Finance Operations and other internal teams to gain exposure to end-to-end finance processes.

Complete other related tasks and projects as assigned.

What you bring:

Current enrolment in an undergraduate program with a concentration in commerce, business administration, finance or a related field.

Up to one year of relevant experience or exposure in finance or accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

An interest in financial modelling, analysis and turning data into useful insights and presentations.

Exposure to Excel, Word, PowerPoint or other financial analysis software is an asset.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize your time and work independently when required.

Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and clarify instructions, questions and expectations.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

A willingness to learn, ask questions and approach unfamiliar tasks with curiosity.

The salary range for this position is $25.70/hour to $32.12/hour and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 5%, with the opportunity to earn up to 9%.

What we offer:

The chance to make a difference every day in the lives of British Columbians, BCAA Members and our communities.
Career and personal development to help you grow and reach your goals.
Incentives that recognize team and individual sales and performance.
Flexible benefits to support your health and lifestyle, and wellness dollars* to keep your body, mind and soul thriving.
A competitive rewards package including salary performance bonus programs, pension plan*, and more to help build your personal wealth.
Paid time off including vacation, and days for wellness, volunteering, and cultural, spiritual or religious connection.
BCAA membership, with valuable perks and Member savings on every day and special spending, from gas and coffee to clothes, sports and event tickets, and hotels.
Meaningful, rewarding work for a BC Top Employer known for putting people first and constantly building a better workplace for all our team members.
