POSITION OVERVIEW

BDC is Canada's only bank devoted exclusively to entrepreneurs. As a Commercial Account Manager, you will combine business development and relationship management responsibilities, helping entrepreneurs achieve their growth ambitions through tailored financing and advisory solutions.

In this role, you will focus on building new client relationships while managing a portfolio of small and growing businesses. You will partner with entrepreneurs to understand their challenges, identify opportunities, and provide solutions that drive long-term success. Joining BDC means becoming part of a collaborative, inclusive, and purpose-driven team committed to supporting Canadian businesses and communities.

OPPORTUNITIES OF THE ROLE

Meet with entrepreneurs to understand their business objectives, challenges, and growth plans, recommending financing and advisory solutions tailored to their needs.
Execute a business development and portfolio management strategy aligned with Business Centre objectives to grow and retain client relationships.
Build and maintain a robust pipeline of new opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, and community engagement.
Structure, negotiate, and present financing proposals while exercising sound credit judgment and risk assessment.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with Centres of Influence (COIs), including accountants, lawyers, brokers, and other strategic partners to generate referrals and business opportunities.
Represent BDC within the Durham Region business community through networking events, industry associations, and local initiatives.
Leverage your analytical, financial, and relationship management skills to deliver value-added solutions that support entrepreneurs at every stage of their growth journey.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Do you hold a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Commerce, Finance, or a related field?
Do you have experience analyzing financial statements, assessing creditworthiness, and making sound business recommendations?
Have you demonstrated success in business development and consistently achieved or exceeded sales targets?
Do you have experience managing a portfolio of clients and building long-term trusted relationships?
Are you a strong negotiator with the ability to influence and present effectively?
Do you have an established professional network within the Durham Region business community?
Are you comfortable connecting with business owners and identifying opportunities to support their growth?
Do you possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle?
Are you comfortable working in-market and maintaining a regular presence within the business community and the office?
