Your Opportunity

BDO's Indirect Tax Services team helps clients navigate the complexities of GST/HST, QST, PST, Carbon Taxes, Luxury Tax, and other indirect tax matters across Canada. Our professionals work closely with privately held businesses, large corporations, and other organizations to provide practical tax solutions, support strategic business decisions, and manage tax risk in an evolving regulatory environment.

We are seeking a Manager to join our growing Indirect Tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional who is passionate about advisory work, enjoys solving complex tax issues, and is looking to further develop their leadership and client service skills within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment. This is for an existing vacancy where the successful candidate will own the following responsibilities:

Advise clients on a broad range of indirect tax matters, including GST/HST, QST, PST, Carbon Taxes, Luxury Tax, and other indirect taxes across Canadian jurisdictions

Provide indirect tax guidance in connection with business acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, restructurings, and other strategic transactions
Research complex indirect tax issues and develop practical, risk-based solutions tailored to client needs
Prepare and review technical memoranda, tax opinions, ruling requests, client correspondence, and other advisory deliverables
Support clients in their interactions with tax authorities, including audits, examinations, objections, voluntary disclosures, and interpretive matters
Collaborate with colleagues across Tax, Advisory, and Assurance practices to deliver integrated solutions for clients
Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand service offerings and support practice growth
Assist with the coaching, mentoring, and development of junior team members
Monitor legislative and administrative developments affecting indirect taxes and communicate emerging implications to clients and internal teams

Your experience and education

You have completed your CPA designation or an equivalent professional designation
Completion of CPA Canada's GST/HST In-Depth Tax Course is considered a strong asset
You have a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience specializing in indirect taxes within a public accounting firm, law firm, industry, or government environment
You possess strong technical knowledge of GST/HST, QST, PST, and other indirect tax regimes
You have experience researching and resolving complex indirect tax issues for clients
You demonstrate strong analytical, technical writing, problem-solving, and communication skills
You value collaboration, client service excellence, and building long-term relationships
You are committed to continuous learning and professional growth in the indirect tax field
You embrace emerging technologies, including AI-powered tools and digital solutions, to enhance productivity, strengthen technical research, and improve quality and efficiency of client deliverables

The expected compensation range for this position is $82,000 to $132,000
