Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Automation Lead – Playwright, TypeScript to support a high-visibility transformation initiative focused on modernising core application capabilities. The successful candidate will provide hands-on automation expertise across multiple delivery squads, guide offshore automation resources, and help establish scalable quality engineering practices. This opportunity offers meaningful exposure to a significant technology programme, with potential to expand support across additional squads based on performance and project needs.

Pay rate range (CAD): $65.00/hr – $70.00/hr

Responsibilities

  • Lead automation delivery across two delivery squads, with potential to support additional squads.
  • Develop, execute, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Apply strong Playwright and TypeScript expertise to deliver reliable automation solutions.
  • Lead and support two offshore automation resources through effective planning, guidance, and collaboration.
  • Contribute hands-on to automation development while coordinating leadership activities and project meetings.
  • Improve automation frameworks, processes, and quality engineering practices.
  • Perform API testing using Rest Assured.
  • Conduct database testing and write SQL queries to validate application functionality.
  • Support delivery milestones while maintaining high standards of quality and accountability.
  • Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes clearly to project stakeholders.
  • Work independently to identify issues, drive solutions, and deliver against agreed timelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced financial technology environment.

Desired Skill-Set

  • At least five years of experience in automation or quality engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Experience with Java and/or Python.
  • Expertise in automation framework development, execution, and maintenance.
  • Experience with Selenium or comparable automation technologies.
  • Hands-on API testing experience using Rest Assured.
  • Basic database testing skills and proficiency writing SQL queries.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to guide offshore resources.
  • Strong accountability and the ability to lead and deliver independently.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining delivery quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.

Nice to Have

  • Java development background.
  • Experience with the Quantum framework.
  • Experience with Selenium.
  • Exposure to AI-powered automation.
  • Mobile testing experience across iOS and Android.
  • Knowledge of JSM Forms or JSM.
  • Experience transitioning from software development into automation.
