Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Frontend Developer-React/Nextjs to join an established Agile engineering team building and enhancing a modern digital forms dashboard. This hands-on contract opportunity focuses on developing responsive, reusable and maintainable front end applications using React, Next.js and JavaScript. The successful candidate will contribute to digital form creation, electronic signatures, reporting and application integrations within a secure investment technology environment.

Pay rate range (CAD): $65.00/hr - $70.00/hr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance a digital forms dashboard using React and Next.js.
  • Write clean, maintainable and production-ready JavaScript and TypeScript code.
  • Build reusable user interface components using modern React practices.
  • Apply effective state management and component design patterns.
  • Create responsive, functional and accessible front end experiences.
  • Integrate applications with REST APIs and backend services.
  • Support digital forms, electronic signatures, reporting and related workflows.
  • Translate functional requirements into reliable, production-quality code in collaboration with the Product Owner and development team.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews and pull requests.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and resolve development problems through sound coding logic.
  • Contribute to technical discussions within established architectural and development standards.
  • Support application publishing, deployment and integration with broader technology environments.
  • Apply appropriate security and accessibility considerations throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools appropriately while maintaining independent coding ability and ownership of technical decisions.

Desired Skill-Set

  • Strong hands-on React development experience with a solid understanding of React fundamentals, modern patterns and component architecture.
  • Practical experience managing state in React applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop reusable components.
  • Recent, consistent production coding experience across two or more meaningful React projects.
  • Strong JavaScript fundamentals, including modern JavaScript and ES6+.
  • Ability to write JavaScript independently and apply sound programming logic.
  • Understanding of functions, objects, arrays, asynchronous programming and common JavaScript concepts.
  • Ability to structure code logically, troubleshoot issues and explain technical decisions.
  • Practical production experience with Next.js, including a working understanding of server-side rendering, static site generation, incremental static regeneration and other rendering strategies.
  • Experience deploying Next.js applications and working with authentication, login functionality, application security and backend integrations.
  • Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs.
  • Understanding of data flow between front end applications and backend services.
  • Ability to translate development problems into practical solutions and explain the reasoning behind coding approaches.
  • Ability to identify and correct errors through independent analysis.
  • Effective communication and collaboration within an Agile team.
  • Ability to work constructively with Product Owners and other developers.
  • Approximately six or more years of software or front end development experience is preferred; strong intermediate developers with demonstrated technical ability are encouraged to apply.
  • Valid Canadian work authorization for the anticipated assignment.
  • Willingness to complete a hands-on coding assessment demonstrating React, JavaScript, problem-solving and independent coding ability.
