Original job description
About SDC:
SDC helps businesses manage their operations through ERP software, connecting financial processes with the day-to-day work of procurement, inventory, and manufacturing. Successful implementation means helping customers translate their business requirements into practical workflows and giving their teams the knowledge to use the system confidently.
We work with customers through the transition to new software, helping them prepare for go-live and build the skills to get lasting value from their investment.
Role Overview:
We’re looking for a Software Implementation & Training Specialist to help customers adopt and get the most out of SDC’s ERP software. You’ll guide customers through implementation readiness, user training, and post-go-live support, with particular attention to accounting and manufacturing workflows.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role for someone who understands how businesses operate and enjoys helping people learn. You’ll work with customer stakeholders and implementation teams to turn business requirements into role-based training, validate end-to-end processes, and prepare users for the transition to a new system.
You’ll also help improve how SDC delivers implementations, building reusable learning resources and bringing customer feedback into our training approach.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Implementation planning & readiness - Understand each customer’s business processes, user roles, and learning needs. Build training plans aligned with implementation milestones, coordinating schedules, prerequisites, and customer responsibilities.
Training delivery & facilitation - Lead instructor-led workshops, virtual sessions, and train-the-trainer programs for business users and super-users. Adapt your approach to different levels of technical confidence and give users opportunities to practise realistic tasks. Onsite travel to locations worldwide including the Caribbean, USA and Canada.
Curriculum & content development - Create role-based learning paths covering relevant ERP modules and workflows. Develop and maintain practical resources, including job aids, process guides, short videos, and hands-on exercises, updating them as the product evolves.
Business process guidance - Help customers understand how their accounting and operational processes work within the system. Explain how transactions flow between modules and how day-to-day activity affects financial reporting, inventory accuracy, and downstream workflows.
Testing & go-live preparation - Partner with implementation consultants, customer project leads, and technical teams to validate training environments and support user acceptance testing. Help users practise end-to-end scenarios, document issues, and flag readiness gaps before go-live.
Post-go-live support & adoption - Provide frontline guidance during the transition to live operations. Diagnose user difficulties, distinguish training needs from configuration or product issues, and coordinate escalation and follow-through. Deliver refresher sessions where additional support is needed.
Progress tracking & continuous improvement - Track training completion, demonstrated user readiness, and adoption measures agreed with the project team. Communicate risks early and use customer feedback and recurring support questions to improve future implementations.
Qualifications:
Experience & track record - 7+ years of experience in software training, ERP implementation, or enterprise application deployment, with a track record of leading customer-facing training workstreams through go-live.
ERP & MRP knowledge - Strong working knowledge of ERP platforms and experience supporting ERP or MRP implementations. You understand how decisions in one module affect users and processes elsewhere in the system.
Accounting fluency - A strong accounting background, with the ability to explain financial workflows such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and period-end close. Comfortable connecting operational transactions to their accounting impact.
Operational understanding - Familiarity with procurement, inventory, supply chain, or manufacturing processes, and the ability to translate a customer’s existing ways of working into system-based workflows.
Training & instructional design - Experience building role-based curricula and facilitating learning for adult audiences. Able to assess whether users can complete their work independently and adjust training when they need more practice.
Communication & customer focus - Clear and patient when explaining technical concepts to non-technical users. You listen carefully, ask useful questions, and build trust with customers navigating unfamiliar software.
Change management - Comfortable guiding teams through operational disruption. Able to recognise resistance or uncertainty, understand its cause, and help customer champions prepare their colleagues for new ways of working.
Project management & ownership - Able to manage training schedules and cross-functional dependencies across concurrent projects. You keep stakeholders informed and raise risks while there is still time to act.
Nice to Have:
Experience with digital adoption platforms, learning management systems, or e-learning authoring tools.
Familiarity with manufacturing costing, bills of materials, production planning, or inventory valuation.
Experience supporting data migration validation, reconciliation, or system configuration.
A professional accounting qualification or formal training in instructional design, project management, or change management.
Experience building a reusable training library or improving a software implementation methodology.
Ideally based near Markham or in the Greater Toronto Area.
What You’ll Get:
Ownership of customer training and readiness across ERP implementations.
The opportunity to shape SDC’s training materials and implementation practices.
Hands-on work with customers across finance and operational teams.
Room to deepen your expertise in ERP delivery, customer education, and change management.
Our Values at Beacon Software
Humility: We acknowledge that the path to getting to the right answer involves being wrong along the way. We have strong beliefs which are weakly held. We actively seek new ideas and believe we can learn from anyone at any time.
