We Are United
We operate as one team. Collaboration is core to how we work, and every idea matters. We believe strong partnerships and shared ownership lead to better outcomes.
We Care
We care deeply about our employees, partners, customers, and communities. We build trust through open communication, thoughtful decisions, and a relentless focus on our brand and customer experience.
The Role
We are seeking a senior Software Engineer to join our technology team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and enhancing backend systems, APIs, and data processing tools using Python and modern web frameworks. The Software Engineer will collaborate with product managers and other team members to deliver maintainable, scalable software that aligns with business objectives.
This role involves full autonomy in delivering significant features or small projects, requiring the ability to break down ambiguous problems into clear, manageable components. The Engineer will not only write high-quality Python code but also formally mentor junior team members and influence the technical direction of specific projects to ensure scalability and maintainability.
What You’ll Do
Software Development & Delivery
- Application Delivery: Take full responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of significant features or small projects, working with a high degree of independence.
- Core Engineering: Write clean, efficient, and scalable Python code (using Django, Flask, or FastAPI) to build backend systems and APIs.
Problem Solving: Address ambiguous problems by breaking them down into manageable components and solving moderately complex technical issues that lack routine solutions.
Technical Strategy & Design
- Strategic Influence: Make significant technical decisions that shape the design and architecture of specific projects, directly impacting future scalability, maintainability, and security.
- System Design: Design high-performance APIs and microservices architectures, selecting appropriate database technologies (SQL/NoSQL) and caching strategies.
Departmental Alignment: Ensure technical choices align with the key goals of the entire IT function and connect team contributions to broader departmental objectives.
Operational Excellence
- Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements to the team's immediate tools, workflows, and operational processes to increase efficiency.
- Agile Participation: Engage in agile processes, including sprint planning and stand-ups, to solve problems through iteration and collaboration.
Support: Join on-call rotation to provide occasional after-hours support for mission-critical applications.
What You Bring
5+ years of professional development experience, with specific proficiency in Python.
Hands-on experience with Python web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI).
Proficiency in database design (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and ORM tools.
Strong understanding of database design (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and query optimization
Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
Strong understanding of RESTful API design and integration.
Ability to write testable code and experience with testing frameworks.
Proven ability to be fully autonomous on project work and responsible for end-to-end delivery
Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct research as needed.
What’s in it for you
A united, values-driven culture that genuinely cares about people, collaboration, and community.
Hybrid work model - 3 days a week in the office
A comprehensive total rewards package, including Traditional Spending Account (TSA) and Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) coverage to support your physical, mental, and financial well-being.
An additional five (5) personal care days, giving you extra flexibility to recharge, reset, or take care of what matters most.
At Beanfield, we’re proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
We believe that diverse teams make stronger teams. No matter your background, experience, or life story, if you meet the requirements for this role, we want to hear from you.
