Original job description

The role

Are you ready to dive into the world of cutting-edge video game development? Headquartered in Montreal, Behaviour Interactive is at the forefront of the gaming industry, crafting unforgettable experiences across PC, console, and mobile platforms. We’re a dynamic, independent studio of over 1200 passionate employees, with studios in Toronto (Behaviour Toronto), Rotterdam (Behaviour Rotterdam) and in the UK (Behaviour UK–North & South). Our day to day revolves around two core business focuses: Services and Original Games. Our Services team collaborates with gaming and entertainment giants like Disney, Sony, Activision, and Nintendo, delivering exceptional work-for-hire development and pioneering immersive location-based entertainment (LBE). Meanwhile, our Original Games unit pushes our creative limits, with our signature IPs, including the iconic Dead by Daylight. Join us and be a part of the future of interactive entertainment!

At Behaviour Interactive, we believe in giving everyone a fair shot. We embrace a diverse and creative environment where everyone is celebrated. We value folks of all ages, sex, ethnicity, colour, ethnic or national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, civil status, disability, or any other protected characteristics as per applicable law.

Make your mark on a game enjoyed by players worldwide and join Behaviour Interactive as a Narrative Designer.

Are you passionate about creating compelling stories, memorable characters, and immersive player experiences? Behaviour Interactive is looking for a Senior Narrative Designer to join a collaborative team and contribute to the development of a live game co-developed with an external partner and released on PC and consoles.

The role of the Senior Narrative Designer is to support the Design Director and act as the champion of a game’s story, functioning as the central resource for all things narrative-related. The Senior Narrative Designer works closely with a project’s core interdisciplinary teams during every step of the process to develop a memorable and meaningful narrative that aligns with the game’s mechanics, design, structure and lore.

In this role you will :

Study a deep and complex lore and expand it.
Work to create and establish the “voice” of a game.
Write and revising in-game dialogue and text.
Identify narrative problems and brainstorm creative solutions with colleagues.
Propose creative and efficient ways to effectively present the world to the player.
Implement copywriting inside game engine and document revisions for archive and project wide visibility.

What we're looking for :

6+ years of experience in Narrative Design, Game Writing, or a related discipline. Previous professional experience as a writer in the game industry.
Understanding of basic game-design fundamentals and principles.
Understanding of how to present a clear narrative concept and craft a clear and coherent story.
Good understanding of how story is used to support game mechanics and enhance player retention.
Possess a strong understanding of visual storytelling.
