About the Opportunity
We're looking for a hands-on Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen operation at Chances Castlegar.
This is an opportunity for an experienced kitchen leader to take ownership of day-to-day kitchen operations, lead and develop a team, and help maintain and improve our food program. You'll work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager to deliver consistent, high-quality food and smooth service across regular operations, promotions, events, and banquets.
Salary: $58,000–$60,000 per year + bonus program

What You'll Do
- Lead the day-to-day kitchen operation and keep service running smoothly
- Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, consistency, and portion control
- Lead, train, coach, and develop kitchen team members
- Support menu planning, specials, promotions, and seasonal offerings
- Manage ordering, inventory, receiving, and supplier relationships
- Monitor food costs, waste, and kitchen efficiencies
- Support scheduling and staffing decisions based on business levels and events
- Ensure compliance with FoodSafe, health, safety, and sanitation requirements
- Work with the Food & Beverage Manager on banquets, promotions, and special events
- Provide coaching and support with performance management when required
- Identify opportunities to improve kitchen efficiency, reduce waste, and support revenue growth
What You Bring
- 2+ years of kitchen leadership, supervisory, or senior cook experience
- Valid FoodSafe Level 2 certification or equivalent
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on approach
- Experience training, coaching, and supporting kitchen team members
- Working knowledge of inventory control, purchasing, food costs, and waste management
- Ability to stay organized and effective in a high-volume environment
- Strong commitment to food quality, cleanliness, and safe food handling
- Experience with kitchen scheduling and staffing is an asset
- Red Seal certification is an asset, but not required
- Must be 19+
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB) criminal record check

Schedule
This is a full-time, hands-on kitchen leadership position. The schedule will include a combination of daytime and evening shifts, with flexibility required for weekends, events, and peak business periods.
