Original job description

About the job

Berkshire Hathaway Group, Reinsurance Division is a leading provider of life retrocession to Reinsurers from the United States, Canada, Asia and Europe. We are a unique organization, financially strong and diversified, with an appetite for large risks and a long investment horizon. We specialize in individual life, annuity, longevity and critical illness reinsurance. At BHG Re, we strive to foster an inclusive and accessible environment in which diversity, experience and enthusiasm are valued equally.

The organization is at an exciting point in our technology evolution. As we modernize and transform our enterprise application landscape, we are looking for a passionate Full Stack Developer who wants to do more than write code. We are seeking someone who wants to help shape the future of how our business operates.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work across the entire technology stack, from user experience and application development through integrations, databases, AI-powered solutions, and cloud technologies. You'll be involved in every stage of the development lifecycle and can influence architecture, design, and technology decisions.

Additionally, our structural advantages enable us to be agile, make decisions quickly, innovate, and our end-to-end lifecycles provide every coworker in the organization with the opportunity to make meaningful impact. If you are a builder, problem-solver, someone who is excited by continuous learning, wants to play a key role in a modernization journey, work with emerging technologies, and leave your fingerprint on systems used across the organization, this is the opportunity for you

Key Responsibilities:

The Full Stack Developer will design, build, enhance, and support enterprise business applications.

In this role, you will work with the IT team and business stakeholders to deliver and improve internal enterprise applications, with a primary focus on full stack development in Blazor Server, .NET/.NET Framework, and SQL Server.

· Design, build, test, and maintain full stack business applications using Blazor Server, C#, .NET/.NET Framework, and SQL Server.

· Proficiency in modern software development practices using AI-assisted coding platforms, including GitHub Copilot, to accelerate development, improve code quality, and enhance productivity.

· Ability to develop secure, scalable, and maintainable applications while leveraging AI tools for code generation, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.

· Familiarity with prompt engineering, AI model evaluation, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, and AI governance principles.

· Understanding of responsible AI practices, including security, privacy, data governance, and ethical AI considerations.

· Translate business and systems requirements into practical technical designs and implementation plans.

· Develop and enhance front-end user experiences, back-end services, and database components for enterprise applications.

· Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, data transformations, data models, and processing workflows in SQL Server 2016/2025.

· Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the application stack, including UI, application logic, integrations, and database layers.

· Develop and refine integrations between internal applications, APIs, and backend systems.

· Collaborate with systems analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions on time.

· Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, testing, and documentation.

· Support modernization and continuous improvement of existing enterprise applications where appropriate.

· Provide clear status updates, implementation notes, and operational documentation as needed.

About the Environment

You will be joining a business-critical environment where reliability, sound technical judgment, and team collaboration will be a key success indicator.

Qualifications

· 5–7 years of hands-on experience as a Full Stack Developer building scalable web applications using modern front-end and back-end technologies, with strong expertise in API development, database design, and end-to-end solution delivery.

· Strong professional experience delivering full stack web applications in C#, .NET, and .NET Framework environments.

· Hands-on experience working across Blazor Server front-end development (Telerik), C#/.NET application logic, SQL Server data processing, and systems integration in a business-critical environment.

· Knowledge of DevOps practices deployment pipelines, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management.

· Strong SQL Server experience, including complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning, and data transformation.

· Experience integrating AI services and APIs such as Microsoft Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot Studio, or comparable AI platforms.

· Experience designing and consuming web services, APIs, and system integrations.

· Solid understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and modern web application development practices.

· Ability to gather requirements and convert them into technical specifications and working solutions.

· Experience troubleshooting and supporting enterprise business applications in production environments.

· Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

· Comfortable working across existing enterprise applications while helping improve maintainability, performance, and overall solution quality.

· Ability to contribute quickly, work independently, and balance new development & enhancements and support of existing systems.
