The Role

The Staff User Experience (UX) Designer will lead high profile projects for the BeyondTrust security software platforms. As the Staff UX Designer, you will be responsible for creating exceptional user experiences, developing design strategies, as well as mentoring and guiding the UX team in executing design projects. You will work within product teams and collaborate closely with stakeholders, including product managers, developers, domain specialists, and a content writer to shape the overall user experience vision and ensure it aligns with business objectives.

What You’ll Do

Develop and Drive UX Design Strategy:

Support the Manager of UX Product Design in shaping the overall UX design vision, strategy, and roadmap for product experiences, considering user needs and business goals.

Work with UX researchers to identify usability testing initiatives and analyze feedback to inform design decisions to continuously enhance the user experience.

Provide mentorship, coaching, and design leadership to UX designers, sharing expertise, raising design quality, and supporting professional growth through guidance and collaboration.

Support the UX design practice by actively seeking process improvements, driving productive change, and running exercises to encourage widespread UX adoption.

Serve as a trusted UX expert across product teams, providing guidance on user experience best practices, design system standards, and research-backed recommendations.

Create Exceptional User Experiences:

Work on product roadmap initiatives, as well as being proactive in identifying UX enhancements within products; creating validated improvement suggestions that can be added to the product roadmap.

Lead the design process, including user-centric design thinking, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and user testing.

Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps.

Design intuitive and visually compelling user interfaces, utilizing the Shield BeyondTrust Design System, as well as identifying improvements to align with the overall user experience strategy.

Evolve company design language and standards.

Conduct and synthesize research activities when needed, while collaborating with dedicated UX Research specialists to plan, execute, and analyse studies that inform design decisions and reduce product risk.

Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams:

Facilitate cross-functional workshops to define project strategy, measurable success goals, and ideation sessions to ensure the product team are engaged, heard, and aligned to a common product outcome and shared vision.

Work closely with product managers, product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and technical constraints to ensure the successful implementation of design solutions that align to users needs.

Drive alignment across teams by identifying opportunities to standardize experiences, reduce design debt, and establish scalable UX practices that improve consistency and efficiency across the BeyondTrust product portfolio.

Communicate and collaborate with marketing, sales, support, and executive management to maintain trusted relationships and encourage feedback avenues.

Advocate for user-centred design principles, promoting a culture of user empathy across the organization.

Self Growth and Development:

Keep abreast of developments in the sector of User Experience and Cyber Security, by pro-actively researching online material and attending courses and conferences (a generous training budget is provided).

Challenge your self-development by identifying and setting strategic goals towards sectors and professional skills you wish to improve upon.

Lead the adoption of AI-enhanced design practices, leveraging emerging tools to accelerate discovery, design, prototyping, and delivery. Produce developer-ready outputs, interactive prototypes, and AI-generated implementation assets that improve handoff quality, reduce development effort, and accelerate product delivery.

What You’ll Bring

Minimum of 6-8 years of user experience design experience for enterprise/desktop software, web applications, mobile platforms and other standard technologies.

Exceptional knowledge of user research methodologies, usability testing, and design thinking processes.

Ability to mentor and coach UX Designers, and to provide guidance to bring out their best work.

Comfort in working with remote distributed teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong conceptualization ability, strong visual communication ability and attention to detail.

Capacity to act on immediate needs while building for the long-term vision and strategy.

Understanding of common software development practices and proficiency working within a software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Experience of html and css code, including knowledge of Accessibility practices.

Ability to balance UX design team mentoring, hands-on UX work, and provide input for product decisions.

Self-starter; eager and able to quickly learn new technologies and approaches.

Can successfully build and maintain relationships with developers and managers and can champion the UX team's ideas within the organization.

Must be self-reliant but be able to communicate and contribute in a remote team setting.

Able to organize, multitask and prioritize.

Nice To Have

Windows and Mac OS experience.

Android, iOS, Windows Mobile, and other mobile platform experience.

UX design experience for enterprise cyber security software.

Claude Code or Claude Design, Figma, Miro, Adobe Creative Suite, Jira experience.

Experience working with Agile development teams.
