Original job description

About Us

At BGBx, we're driven by a simple idea: breakthrough thinking creates breakthrough impact. As an independent commercial solutions partner to pharmaceutical and life science companies, we bring together strategists, scientists, communicators, creatives, technologists, and data experts to tackle some of healthcare's most important challenges.

Our teams work across consulting and communications to help clients shape strategy, launch innovations, engage stakeholders, and drive meaningful results throughout the product lifecycle. The work is complex, fast-moving, and deeply connected to improving lives, creating opportunities for curious minds to make a real difference every day.

If you're energized by collaboration, inspired by innovation, and motivated by work that matters, you'll find a place to grow, contribute, and make a meaningful impact at BGBx.

Position Overview

The VP, Engagement Strategy turns brand strategy into connected omnichannel engagement. This senior leader defines how audience insight, behavioral science, content, media, CRM, field engagement, technology, and measurement work together across the customer journey. The VP leads clients and integrated teams from insight through activation and optimization, while helping grow BGBx's Engagement Strategy capability.

Key Responsibilities

Engagement & Omnichannel Strategy

Lead audience-centered, behaviorally informed omnichannel strategies across HCP, patient, caregiver, payer, and other stakeholder audiences
Translate brand and business strategy into connected journeys, engagement architectures, channel roles, sequencing, triggers, and activation roadmaps
Define how content, media, CRM, field, social, experiential, and digital interactions work together to move audiences toward desired behaviors
Make clear strategic choices and tradeoffs that focus investment on the moments and interactions most likely to create impact

Audience, Content & Experience

Turn research, segmentation, behavioral data, cultural context, and market dynamics into actionable audience understanding
Identify the beliefs, motivations, barriers, decision pathways, and moments of receptivity that engagement must address
Shape content and experience strategy so each interaction has a clear role, purpose, call to action, and connection to what happens next
Maintain the strategic throughline as work moves from strategy into creative development, implementation, and optimization

Measurement & Optimization

Define engagement objectives, KPI frameworks, signal plans, and learning agendas
Design closed-loop approaches that use customer response and performance data to improve content, channels, sequencing, and future engagement
Turn performance findings into clear strategic implications and optimization recommendations

Client, Growth & Team Leadership

Serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior clients and lead executive presentations, workshops, and high-stakes strategic conversations
Lead engagement and omnichannel strategy for pitches, organic growth opportunities, and capability development
Manage, mentor, and develop strategists while raising the quality, consistency, and visibility of BGBx's Engagement Strategy offering

Qualifications

10+ years of relevant experience across engagement strategy, omnichannel strategy, experience planning, digital strategy, CRM strategy, integrated strategy, or related disciplines
Significant pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences experience, preferably in an agency, communications, or consulting environment
Proven ability to lead complex engagement strategy from audience insight and problem definition through activation, measurement, and optimization
Strong understanding of HCP and patient journeys and the strategic roles of media, CRM, digital, social, field engagement, data, analytics, experience design, and marketing technology
Fluency in how personalization, marketing automation, modular content, next-best action, and decisioning can support omnichannel engagement
Strong client leadership, facilitation, executive communication, and strategic storytelling skills
Experience leading pitches, growing client relationships, and managing or developing strategists
Working knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory, privacy, consent, and compliance considerations

Preferred Experience

Experience across both HCP and patient engagement and across launch, growth, or mature brand challenges
Experience translating global strategy into locally relevant engagement approaches
Practical experience with advanced segmentation, dynamic personalization, closed-loop marketing, or AI-enabled planning and optimization
Experience building or evolving an engagement, omnichannel, digital, or experience strategy capability

Interview Process

Candidates will be invited to discuss two anonymized examples of work they personally led, including one demonstrating end-to-end omnichannel strategy. We are most interested in problem framing, strategic choices, cross-functional leadership, measurement, and impact. Confidential client information and unpaid speculative work are not required.

Salary Range: $200,000 - $240,000 CAD

The salary range provided represents what a potential hire may expect to earn in this role at BGBx. Actual salary decisions will be influenced by several factors that we use to determine overall fit, including experience (both direct and indirect), education, training, demonstrated qualifications, and organizational need. Salary is only one component of the total rewards package offered at BGBx.

What We Offer

At BGBx, we invest in our people because exceptional talent drives exceptional work. We provide a competitive rewards package designed to support your health, well-being, professional growth, and life outside of work.

Our benefits package typically includes health care insurance, retirement plans, generous paid time off and holidays, wellness benefits, life insurance, learning and development opportunities, and other resources that support our employees throughout their careers. Additional benefits may be available based on your location. Beyond benefits, you'll find a culture built on collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on healthcare and the people it serves.

BGBx is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, citizenship status, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status or any category or class of person protected by law.
